General Hospital pulls out the big guns and fan favorites return including the Nurse's Ball!

General Hospital: November to Remember

It has been a busy week of news coming out of General Hospital! Monday we learned Tristan Rogers is returning Nov 15, then fan favorite Constance Towers was reported to be on set Oct. 31 to reprise the iconic role of Helena Cassadine, and today, ABC announced not only will Lynn Herring be returning, but so will the Nurse’s Ball which fans have been clamoring for!!! Next week things will rev up as we see Alan Quartermaine, Robin and yes, AJ, who is back! So get ready for a Sonny/Carly/AJ showdown with Michael as the prize! What will Michael do? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

ABC also announced more Quartermaines are returning — Wally Kurth (aka) Ned Ashton & Robin Christopher (Skye Alcazar) — for Edward’s funeral. Wait until they see AJ is alive! Wouldn’t mind being a fly on the Q living room wall for that reunion!

To say GH has changed for the better is an understatement! Thanks to Executive Producer Frank Valentini and Head Writer Ron Carlivati, General Hospital is back on top, with ratings higher than some primetime shows. It is ABCs #1 daytime show, beating Katie Couric in the important 18-49 demographic, and while some fans still complain, most know it has improved 10-fold compared to last year!

I remember last November we were just praying the show would continue. Whether ABC realized they have a gem in GH or was scared of the fallout if the iconic soap was cancelled before its 50th anniversary, the network has just proven how much the it is behind the daytime classic with advertising during ABC daytime & primetime shows.

In addition, many of the actors have appeared on other ABC daytime programs like The Chew and The View to bring in more viewers. Of course, it’s no coincidence Kelly Monaco is on the hit primetime show Dancing with the Stars, and soap fans have rallied for Team Vally, saving it from elimination this past week. Jason Thompson appeared on an episode of CW’s 90210 as a Detective, and Nancy Lee Grahn will guest on an upcoming episode of the hit primetime show Castle. Are these appearances boosting ratings? Time will tell, but it’s not a bad thing to have such talented actors featured on other popular primetime serials.

The Rumor Mill: While I usually don’t mention rumors for fear of misinformation, I believe this is a pretty solid one. Rumor has it that Anders Hove could be jetting back from Europe to reprise his devilish role as madman Cesar Faison and Lord I hope so!

Remember in September, Frank Valentini indicated more than one villain was on the way back, and with Helena in town, I’m sure he can’t be far behind; they have worked together in the past! In July Valentini promised a huge umbrella story to will unfold between now and the 50th anniversary April 1st, so enjoy the ride! With all the promotions and veterans returning, General Hospital is again…must see TV!!

RHeart’s Salute to General Hospital‘s 50th Anniversary, Salute to Spencers w/Jackie Zeman! We’ll chat with her on November 14th about her time on GH as the first Spencer to arrive in Port Charles!
