BMG have strongly denied rumours in the Sun that Gareth Gates will be
dropped because of poor sales for his second album ‘Go Your Own Way’. Some
insiders say the second album has failed to perform up to expectations – and
with a new generation of Pop Idols just weeks away from market Gates will no
longer be a priority for the major. However a BMG spokesman denied the
stories, pointing out Gates has been increasing his fanbase outside the UK.
What is really funny is that rumours abound that BMG want to turn him into a “bad-boy rocker”. That is about as unlikely as Pee-Wee Herman re-inventing himself as the next Ozzy. Imagine it; Gareth Gates headlines the Kerrang! stage at Ozfest.
