Jon King, Andy Gill, Dave Allen, and Hugo Burnham, the original members of the seminal Punk/Dance group from Leeds, England are reuniting for a series of concerts in January 2005. This will be the first time the original quartet has played together since 1981. The success of Gang Of Four disciples Franz Ferdinand has caused colleagues and critics to put pressure on the Gang Of Four to reform.

The group gained success with a heady mix of leftist politics, punk attitude, and ever-present dance beats. 6 of the group’s songs reached the U.S. Dance chart including “Damaged Goods”, “I Found That Essence Rare”, “What We All Want”, “To Hell With Poverty”, “I Love a Man In Uniform”, and their Top 10 dance smash “Is It Love”. Their classic albums include Entertainment! and Solid Gold

The announced concert dates are as follows:

  • Jan. 23: Manchester, England (Academy)
  • Jan. 24: Leeds, England (Leeds University)
  • Jan. 25: Bristol, England (Academy)
  • Jan. 27: Birmingham, England (Academy)
  • Jan. 28: London (Shepherd’s Bush Empire)

thanks Bill, great news. I have been in contact with Dave Allen a fair amount over the last few years. Looks like his Overland Agency site is no longer up – this could directly relate to the reunion, I would guess.
