Wii Virtual Console News and Releases for 3/10/2008

Part of: Wii/DSi Shop News and Releases

A little bit of new news reaches us this week as the Virtual Console goes back to two-a-week. This week, it's a duo of Japanese imports, but first, the news:

New Wii Channel surfaces: Over in Japan, Wii owners have fired up their systems to find a brand new channel. The TV no Tomo, or TV Friend Channel allows Japanese Wii owners to use Wii Remote as a TV Remote. It also lets you see which shows your friends have highlighted, with Nintendo actually tracking these records (and star-ratings) for each show. Lastly, and perhaps most important, this new channel will let you register your mobile number and e-mail address. Select a show on the guide that you want to watch, and 30 minutes before it starts you'll get a text message and/or an email letting you know it's about to come on. Awesome!

Chances of this coming to America? Almost zero. The complexity of setting this up in America, where there are hundreds of different networks available, is probably just too great.

As stated above, this week, it's back to two games for the Virtual Console. Which two? Find out below:

DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure (Super NES, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Alcohol Reference and Comic Mischief, 900 Wii Points): This is an action game where an energetic boy named Milon sets off on a great adventure in a cute fairy-tale world. Piccolo is a village in the country of Fantasia. One day, they hear from the fairy Alis that songs and music have disappeared from the forest. Suddenly, the wizard Amon appears, grabs Alis, and vanishes with her. The brave Milon must now go on a journey to rescue his kidnapped friend, with his bubble shooter as his only weapon. Along the way, he'll need to retrieve five legendary instruments and stars by defeating Amon's minions. Get ready to enjoy the fun and comical action of this charming game.
