DSi owners get a ton of new games this week, including a new twist on a popular board game and a game that makes interesting use of the DSi camera. But Wii owners are not left out, getting yet another solid Virtual Console pick for the last week of April.
This week's games are as follows:
On DSiWare this week, we have Ferrari GT: Evolution (Gameloft, 1-2 players, 800 DSi Points), DodoGo! (Neko Entertainment, 1 player, 800 DSi Points), System Flaw Recruit (Enjoy Gaming Ltd., 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Don't Feed the Animals (Electron Jump Games, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Puffins: Let's Roll (Other Ocean Interactive, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), and Scrabble Slam (EA, 1-4 players, 500 DSi Points). Ferrari GT: Evolution is a racing game for the DSi featuring Ferrari cars. DodoGo! has you constructing buildings to help eggs get to safety. System Flaw Recruit uses the DSi camera to transpose alien ships onto the real world, which is an awesome idea. Don't Feed the Animals is a tower defense title where you're defending snacks from wild animals. Puffins: Let's Roll has you helping puffin eggs get back to mother puffins by rolling them through obstacle-covered terrain. Scrabble Slam is a card game version of the traditional board game where players drop letter cards to change the current word played. Sounds cool.
This week, WiiWare has two games: 5 Arcade Gems (Nordcurrent, 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points) and Brain Drain (Enjoy Gaming Ltd., 1 player, 500 Wii Points). 5 Arcade Gems is actually 5 arcade-style games based off classic titles and programmed by Nordcurrent. Brain Drain, meanwhile, combines the basics of Bejeweled and jigsaw puzzles into one puzzle-solving game, which sounds interesting.
The Virtual Console has a lone title for it this week: The King of Fighters '95 (Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points). The King of Fighters '95 is a pretty solid fighting game, and while it's not perhaps the best in the series, the KoF franchise is rock solid, so you won't be let down by this week's release.
The King of Fighters '95 debuted on the Japanese Virtual Console in December 2009. It, along with 5 Arcade Gems and Brain Drain, is available for download off the Wii Shop Channel, while Ferrari GT: Evolution, DodoGo!, System Flaw Recruit, Don't Feed the Animals, Puffins: Let's Roll, and Scrabble Slam are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.
Check back next week for the latest round of digital releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
