The big news this week might be the announcement of Mega Man 10 coming to WiiWare, but there's plenty to talk about with this week's amazing release list for Nintendo's digital download services! Eleven games are coming out this week to rock your DSi and Wii!
... Nah, who am I kidding? Mega Man 10 is the big news this week, especially after seeing the titles in this week's WiiWare and DSiWare line-up. The Virtual Console, though does kind of save the day with two awesome games.
This week's games are as follows:
On DSiWare, we have five new games: Master of Illusion Express: Matchmaker (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 DSi Points), Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam (Virtual Toys, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Bejeweled Twist (PopCap Games, 1-2 players, 500 DSi Points), Miami Nights (Gameloft, 1 player, 800 DSi Points), and Littlest Pet Shop (EA, 1 player, 800 DSi Points). Master of Illusion Express: Matchmaker is actually a bit different than just being a slice of the original game. It has Photo Diagnosis which is a new trick that uses the DSi camera to take a person's photos so the game can guess their "age" while Matchmaker uses the DSi's built-in programs to show another person that you've got the same interests as they do. Besides having a ridiculous name, Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam is, you guessed it, a cooking title where you have to make dishes for all kinds of zany and wacky customers. Bejeweled Twist is a DSi port of the award-winning game that has an exclusive DS Battle mode, which is a nice little addition but might not be enough to be the selling point. Miami Nights is what I would like to call a "Miami simulator" in that you create an avatar and go around Miami building a personality. It's like The Sims ... except with a lot less creation stuff and not the same quality of graphics. So maybe it's more like a dating sim. Finally, Littlest Pet Shop is a Nintendogs-like game centering around pampering virtual pets. Like we needed another one of these, right?
On WiiWare, we've got Stunt Cars (Icon Games Entertainment, 1-4 players, 800 Wii Points), Diatomic (Grendel Games, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points), Moki Moki (Natsume Inc., 1 player, 800 Wii Points), and Rubik’s Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH (Two Tribes, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points). Stunt Cars is a pretty-simple casual racing title, while Diatomic is a fast retro-arcade action game that apparently takes place inside a set of Petri dishes. Sound a bit like Geometry Wars and its ilk, but with a biology theme to it? Yup, that's what I think, too. Meanwhile, Moki Moki is a gravity-bending puzzle title where you have to save the Moki by safely guiding them to portals. You do this by rolling them down hills, grabbing them with hooks, and blasting them with jets, among other things, for over 100 levels. Rubik’s Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH is a 3-D puzzle game with some 70 levels centering around guiding cubes to color-coded exit points using a number of in-game items. In addition, the original Rubik’s Cube is included as a bonus.
