What's New on the Wii/DSi Shop Channel for November 23, 2009

Part of: Wii/DSi Shop News and Releases

Thanksgiving's coming here in the United States (our Canadian friends have already had theirs), but will North American Wii owners as a whole have anything to be thankful for this week? The answer is a resounding yes, with a great WiiWare title and the best Virtual Console release list in months. DSi owners ... well, not so much, unless you like Electroplankton.

This week's games are as follows:

On DSiWare, we have three new games: Castle Of Magic (Gameloft, 1 player, 500 DSi Points); myNotebook: Blue (Nnooo, 1 player, 200 DSi Points); and a ton of bite-sized Electroplankton titles: Luminarrow, Sun-Animalcule, Lumiloop, Marine-Crystals, and Varvoice (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 DSi Points each). Castle Of Magic plops players in the middle of an adventure to free their friend from the clutches of an evil magician. It uses the DSi Camera to allow players to transform into different forms by taking photographs of certain colored items. myNotebook: Blue is, no surprise, a notebook app. Like the last bit of releases from this series, the Electroplankton games are all small parts of the full title, which is a hard-to-find DS game. If you like good rhythm games, these mini-Electroplankton games might be up your alley.

On WiiWare, we've got BIT.TRIP.VOID (Aksys Games, 1-4 players, 600 Wii Points), Harvest Moon: My Little Shop (Natsume, 1 player, 1,200 Wii Points), Little Tournament Over Yonder (Gevo Entertainment, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points), and Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 1 (Lexis Numerique, 1 player, 500 Wii Points). Starting with the last one, Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 1 is an educational game for the younger set, namely those ages three to six.  It's goal is to help teach reading skills. Little Tournament Over Yonder is a real-time strategy game aimed at a younger crowd as well. Then, Harvest Moon has yet another game to spend hours on with My Little Shop, which this time around mixes farming with running a small shop and, as always, trying to save the town. Lastly, BIT.TRIP.VOID is the latest in the fantastic BIT.TRIP series of games, this time focusing around collecting one color of dots, avoiding another color, and trying to score as many points as you can without dying. It doesn't sound fun, but after playing it at PAX, I can tell you it's difficult, but certainly fun!
