Last week might have been Halloween, but it sure feels like Nintendo saved the tricks for this week's digital download selections. There are eight games, none of them really all that appealing ... or rather, seven games and a DSi camera application. I think they were guessing we'd be too busy with Zombies ate my Neighbors to notice.
This week's games are as follows:
On DSiWare, we have three new games (or, two games and one app): Sparkle Snapshots (Nintendo, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Viking Invasion (BiP Media, 1 player, 800 DSi Points) and Battle of Giants: Dragons – Bronze Edition (Ubisoft, 1-4 players, 800 DSi Points). Sparkle Snapshots is yet another silly camera app, this one probably targeted at a young female demographic if the name is any giveaway. Viking Invasion is Viking-themed tower defense, and really, that's about it. Battle of Giants: Dragons – Bronze Edition is actually a combat game based around customizing dragons and having them fight against one another. It has online multiplayer and is probably the strongest of the three titles this week ... and the only one I'm thinking of recommending.
On WiiWare, we've got Carnival King (Incredible Technologies, 1-2 player, 700 Wii Points), “Aha! I Got It!” Escape Game (Ateam Inc., 1 player, 500 Wii Points) and Family Card Games (Aksys Games, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points). Mini-games, puzzle games, and card games. That's pretty much the description of all three above titles, each of which is an inexpensive family-style game. Family Card Games features three different card games (Daifugo, Speed, and Memory) and online game play, believe it or not, though that's limited to Daifugo. Carnival King is, what else, carnival-themed mini-games for you and the family. And “Aha! I Got It!” Escape Game wins the prize for most disturbing premise I have ever seen in a press release: "Today is Milo’s birthday, and he just got an amazing present from his dad: a room full of puzzles. Milo needs to solve all the puzzles to escape from the room." Wait ... so his dad is Jigsaw?
