What's New on the Wii/DSi Shop Channel for September 21, 2009

Part of: Wii/DSi Shop News and Releases

Fall is upon us once again, and the weather getting colder is a good excuse to stay inside and play some games. Naturally, Nintendo is providing some more WiiWare and DSiWare games to help make that excuse easier to pull off. Throw in a great Virtual Console title this week, and really, why go look at a bunch of leaves changing colors?

This week's games are as follows:

On DSiWare, we have MySims Camera (EA, 1 player, 200 DSi Points) and Clubhouse Games Express: Strategy Pack (Nintendo, 1-8 players, 500 DSi Points). Long story short here: it's a MySims-themed app for use with the DSi camera. There's a few special features that let you overlay MySims characters onto your pictures, but that's about it. Remember, it's cheap, so don't expect too much for the money here. Clubhouse Games Express: Strategy Pack is a collection of strategy games from the Clubhouse Games series.

On WiiWare, we've got You, Me, and the Cubes (Nintendo, 1-2 players, 1,000 Wii Points) and Family Tennis (Aksys Games, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points). Family Tennis is a sister game to the earlier Family series games from Aksys, and this one is centered around, surprise, tennis. The game features three different modes, including an elimination mode and Thrilling Rally mode, which lets you join up to three other players and rally to see who can get to 100 points first.

You, Me, and the Cubes is yet another good-looking puzzle game from Nintendo for WiiWare. This time around, players are tasked with creating creatures called Fallos, who you then fling onto the cube. Sounds odd? Well, here's where it gets interesting: your placement matters because the cube is weight-sensitive, and once you place the Fallos on the cube, they're on their own. The game looks trippy, yet beautiful, and it just might be something of a sleeper WiiWare hit.

On the Virtual Console this week is the Commodore 64 title Last Ninja 2 (1 player, 500 Wii Points). The sequel to the already-released The Last Ninja, our ninja hero finds himself in 1980s' Manhattan fighting an evil force that transported him there from the past. The game still looks good and the soundtrack is rockin', even though the plot has been done many times before.

Last Ninja 2 was released in June 2008 on the PAL Virtual Console. It, along with You, Me, and the Cubes and Family Tennis, is available for download off the Wii Shop Channel, while MySims Camera and Clubhouse Games Express: Strategy Pack are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.

Check back next week for the latest round of digital releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
