What's New on the Wii/DSi Shop Channel for April 27, 2009

Part of: Wii/DSi Shop News and Releases

Last week was a bit of a down week on the Wii and DSi Shop Channels, but the good news is that this week is a definite improvement. Featuring the same DSiWare/ WiiWare/ Virtual Console set-up as previous weeks, here are a few titles definitely worth checking out, especially if you're looking for a bite-sized digital snack or a comprehensive strategy title.

This week's game are as follows:

On DSiWare, we get the first of what will be several Clubhouse Games Express titles with Clubhouse Games Express: Card Classics (1-8 players, 500 Nintendo Points). This game is, as expected, the card games from the DS title Clubhouse Games, which was a pretty good, if sometimes hard-to-find title. 500 points still seems a little steep, but I have a little more faith in recommending this title than the past Master of Illusion Express titles.

The other DSiWare title is Paper Airplane Chase (1-2 players, 200 Nintendo Points), which was originally a WarioWare title. It seems like an incredibly stupid premise from the outset - maneuver a paper plane through a maze - but having played the Japanese version already, I can tell you it's actually kind of fun. And it's only 200 points, so what do you really have to lose?

On WiiWare, Cocoto Platform Jumper (Neko Entertainment, 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points) brings this series over to North America. Previously released on just about everything in Europe, the game's title says it all: you play as Cocoto, a little devil child, in a platforming adventure. The game was actually a GameCube title in Europe that's now getting brought over as a WiiWare game to North America, so the graphics are a bit dated. It could be fun at 700 points, but with the other games that are on the WiiWare service right now, Cocoto doesn't really stand out too well.
