This week, it's all about the smaller things in life: pixels, ants, tiny tanks, tiny heroes, and so on. Even DSiWare's getting in on the action with a tiny line-up! I don't quite think that's exactly what Nintendo was going for, but hey, it's not such a bad thing: one of those tiny heroes is making his long-awaited North America debut after coming out in Japan nearly 15 years ago.
This week's games are as follows:
On DSiWare, we have a port of Brain Challenge (Gameloft, 1 player, 800 DSi Points). Brain Challenge is yet another one of those brain-training games, except this one came out on cell phones first. I'm really not certain that we need something like this on DSiWare, though I understand why you might port a game like that to the DSi.
On WiiWare, there are three titles this week; Ant Nation (Konami, 1 player, 700 Wii Points), Bit Boy!! (Bplus, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points) and Incoming! (JV Games, 1-2 players, 500 Points). Ant Nation tasks players to create an ant army, allowing you control over them as you help them grow their colony and make them stronger. Clearly, Ant Nation offers the best ant-based game play since SimAnt way back in the day because ... well, that's the last time you played as an ant. Bit Boy!! is a story about a box living in the 128-bit world, who suddenly finds his friends kidnapped by monsters from the 4-bit world. It's up to our little hero to travel back through each of the bit worlds, from 4- and 8-bit up to 64- and 128-bit, in a Pac-Man style maze game to free his friends and save the day. The different bit worlds idea looks cool and is a nice idea, but can the game play stack up? Lastly, Incoming! is a tank-based combat game that features tanks with eyes and lots of blowing stuff up. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
