On the Virtual Console this week is California Games from the Commodore 64 (1-5 players, 500 Wii Points). A classic title, California Games was one of the first real sports games to be featured on the video game market and was really the forerunner to many of today's extreme sports titles, though the actual game itself isn't that extreme. It's also the only game I can remember that had virtual hacky sack.
California Games was released in April 2008 on the PAL Virtual Console. It, along with BIT.TRIP.CORE, BUST-A-MOVE Plus!, and Heracles Chariot Racing, is available for download off the Wii Shop Channel, while Art Style: BASE 10 and Asphalt 4: Elite Racing are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.
Check back next week for the latest round of digital releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
