It's been a while since I've been able to be excited about a Virtual Console release, but last week, we got word of a classic RPG making its way to the Virtual Console service this week. You probably already know which time-traveling Super NES RPG from Square Enix it is (hint: there's only one), but given the other games this week on DSiWare and WiiWare ... it's good to have something that I can definitely recommend downloading.
This week's games are as follows:
On DSiWare, there's On DSiWare, there's Big Bass Arcade (Big John Games, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Word Searcher 3 (Digital Leisure Inc., 1 player, 500 DSi Points) and Hellokids - Vol. 1: Coloring and Painting (BiP Media, 1 player, 200 DSi Points). What you see if pretty much what you get. Big Bass Arcade is an arcade fishing game, Word Searcher 3 is the third installment of a word puzzle game series and Hellokids - Vol. 1: Coloring and Painting is, you guessed it, a digital coloring book.
Meanwhile, WiiWare has Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove: Monster Mix (Natsume, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points) and a demo of Lead the Meerkats (Lapland Studio, 1 player) . Can you say dancing game with monsters and lots of unlockables? That's exactly what Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove: Monster Mix is. Oh, and the story's about trying to bring zombies back to town that have disappeared, using dance, apparently. Interesting ...
The Virtual Console returns this week with a game that's going to overshadow anything else this week by default: the one and only Chrono Trigger (Super NES, Square Enix, 1 player, 800 Wii Points). One of the most sought-after Virtual Console releases outside of fellow RPGs Final Fantasy VI and EarthBound, Chrono Trigger is the time-traveling story of Crono and his friends as they try to avert an end-of-the-world disaster.
Chrono Trigger debuted in April on the Japanese Virtual Console. It, along with,
Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove: Monster Mix and the demo, is available right now on the Wii Shop Channel, while Big Bass Arcade, Word Searcher 3 and Hellokids - Vol. 1: Coloring and Painting are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.
That's it for this week's list of DSiWare and WiiWare games. Until next time, happy gaming!
