What's New on the Wii/DSi Shop Channel for March 21, 2011

Part of: Wii/DSi Shop News and Releases

This week on the Nintendo download services, we have some good ol' fashioned wrasslin', along with a compilation of arcade titles that are based on other arcade games (but for legal reasons, not too closely). There's also a new installment in the G.G Series ... umm, series, for DSi owners as well.

This week's games are as follows:

On DSiWare this week, we have G.G Series D-TANK (Genterprise, 1 player, 200 DSi Points) and Shapo (Tik Games, 1 player, 500 DSi Points). G.G Series D-TANK is a vertically-scrolling tank shooter in which you have to deend your base from enemy tanks and other forces. Shapo is an interesting games, having you put shapes into larger forms and balance them on a fulcrum. Kind of like Tetris on a seesaw, maybe?

WiiWare has one full title this week: Arcade Essentials (Nordcurrent, 1 player, 500 Wii Points), as well as a demo of Dive: The Medes Islands Secret (Cosmonaut Games, 1 player). Arcade Essentials is a collection of five games that feel a bit similar to Qix, Galaxian, Q*Bert, Bust-a-Move and Missile Command. Meanwhile, Dive: The Medes Islands Secret is a game about searching underwater for treasure. Or in this case, a demo about searching underwater for treasure.

The Virtual Console returns with a new game this week Natsume Championship Wrestling (SNES, 1-4 players, 800 Wii Points). In Natsume Championship Wrestling, the names may be changed, but the fun is still there, allowing you to beat up up to three of your friends at a single time. And $8 is perfectly reasonable as a price for this little game, at least in my book.

Natsume Championship Wrestling was released in February on the PAL Virtual Console. It, along with Arcade Essentials and the demo, is available for download off the Wii Shop Channel, while G.G Series D-TANK and Shapo are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.

Check back next week for the latest round of digital releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
