The days of WiiWare updates and new Virtual Console titles are a thing of the past. Well, not exactly, because they're technically still around, but they're no longer alone. They're being joined by DSiWare, downloadable content for Nintendo's newest handheld. But don't fear, Wii owners: you still get a little love this week, too.
This week's releases are as follows:
DSiWare takes center stage, with the free Nintendo DSi Browser being joined by five games: Bird & Beans (200 Nintendo Points), Master of Illusion Express: Funny Face (200 Nintendo Points), Art Style: AQUIA (500 Nintendo Points), WarioWare: Snapped! (500 Nintendo Points) and Brain Age Express: Math (800 Nintendo Points). Of the five, Art Style: AQUIA really stands out as a must-buy, but the other five are likely more hit or miss, and a lot of that depends on whether you like certain franchises or not.
Over on WiiWare, Equilibrio is front and center, a puzzle game where you rotate the stage to move a ball to the goal. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, try using the Wii Balance Board -- since the game is compatible with it -- and then tell me it's simple. It's only 500 Wii Points and it's got a multiplayer mode, too, so it might be a nice little title to check out.
Unlike past special launch weeks though, the Virtual Console hasn't been left out this time around. Uncharted Waters: New Horizons from the Super Nintendo is this week's release. A pirate simulation game from sim masters Koei, Uncharted Waters: New Horizons has you picking from six characters and sailing the open seas in search of new worlds and new treasures. It's the usual 800 points. Fans of Koei games should definitely pick this up.
Uncharted Waters: New Horizons was released on the Japanese Virtual Console in March. It, along with Equilibrio and everything on DSiWare, is available for download off the Wii Shop Channel.
Check back next week for the latest round of releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
