There are a lot of World War II games out there, but none do it better than the Medal of Honor series. Now, the glory that is Medal of Honor hits the PSP.
“But how are the controls?” you may ask. That’s the one important thing Electronic Arts did right. You move with the analog stick and the face buttons act as a “secondary analog stick.” This might not sound good on paper, but in action, it’s fantastic. While utilizing the R Button as the primary firing trigger and the directional buttons to switch weapons, change positions and zoom, its one godly configuration.
The controls are very easy to master also, so after two minutes of playing you won’t even notice the lack of a second analog stick.
To put it simply, the graphics are stunning! They might not be the best but they sure are great like the Medal of Honor games on the Playstation 2. The explosions are in your face and the environments reek of death and gunpowder. Adding to the formula of destruction is the insane audio of explosions and men screaming of agony. All this adds up to one exciting game of war and destruction.
Just like any other WWII game, the story is basically to kill the axis forces. That’s basically the whole story there, pitting you against Germans in different locals so you can defeat the axis forces.
Heroes also adds secondary objectives for you to complete, such as obtaining German research plans. This may not affect the game’s progression, but if you collect all of the secondary objectives and reach a target score, you may be able to achieve the highest gold ranking.
Which brings me to my next point - this game has a lot of unlockables, which range from the different badges you can acquire to the numerous costumes you can unlock for multi-player. This really adds to the game because you are never really finished with the game until you unlock everything.
