The PSP will play host to a sick, twisted new game show when Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) unleashes Cash Money Chaos early next year.
The title, announced today by SOE, will pit players, who have been abducted by an alien race, as contestants in a bizarre ‘70s-themed game show to save not only themselves, but also the entire human race. Built on the gun ‘n’ grab schematics of Smash TV, plenty of cash will be up for grabs, but players will have to mow down a mass of adversaries in more than 50 levels.
SOE promises not only fast-paced arcade-style game play in 3D but also a sarcastic sense of humor. Substituting for the typical thugs, soldiers and monsters featured in most shooters is an odd cast of sadistic characters.
Swarms of homicidal clowns will look to take the head off your shoulders, alien chickens will be eager to peck your eyes out and players will have to fend off even more oddities such as mutant hillbillies, ninjas, pirates and killer gorillas.
Rounding out the enemies will be bigger boss characters such as an enormous bearded lady with deadly unicycle riding as henchmen. The release also promises lots of blood when players best these deadly enemies. While creating violence, the players will be provided a fast-paced punk rock soundtrack and story progression will be rewarded with cut scenes and unlockable extras.
Players will also be able to utilize the PSP’s network capabilities as Cash Money Chaos will feature both local and Internet games for up to eight players where co-op and deathmatch modes will be available.
The versus mode will support eight players with the co-op “Game Show Mode” will support up to four players. After duking it out online, players can check leaderboards and see how they rank among others online.
An official website has been launched for the game. Slated for a first quarter release, Cash Money Chaos is set to launch with a price tag of $29.99.
