SEGA Launches E3 Countdown Site

With time before the big E3 conference ticking away, SEGA has launched its own countdown site called "Road to E3."

Starting today, April 25, SEGA will use the site to take “gamers on a virtual road trip” as it unveils new titles a day at a time leading up to the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo.

SEGA has recently taken numerous steps to reaffirming its place as a leading publisher and developer of next-generation entertainment software. The acquisition of cutting-edge developers — The Creative Assembly, Secret Level and Sports Interactive — shows SEGA's support of next-generation development. SEGA's support of Nintendo's upcoming Virtual Console on the Nintendo Revolution system opens the door for younger gamers to experience SEGA's library of classic games.

"Recent additions to our organization in the form of strong developers have expanded upon SEGA's next-gen development prowess," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Our 2006 E3 line-up clearly shows that SEGA's commitment to challenging creative and technological boundaries has never been stronger."

Be sure to visit the site, which prominently displays a countdown clock to E3.

The first title on SEGA “Road Trip” will be announced at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Standard Time today, April 25.

As SEGA counts down to E3, and reaffirming its standing as a leading next-gen game maker, gamers themselves are still working to convince the company to enter the next next-gen market with its own console. Those lamenting the loss of SEGA’s unique consoles on the market can visit a petition site.

The petition’s broken the 200-signature mark, but its creator is shooting for thousands before it’s sent on to SEGA.
