Section 8: Prejudice Release Dates Announced

In a press release, TimeGate Studios announced the launch dates and loyalty perks for Section 8: Prejudice, the follow-up to their retail shooter Section 8. In a bold, yet understandable move, the title will be launching in electronic form via download on the various platforms. Xbox LIVE members will be happy to learn that it will release first on the Xbox LIVE Arcade on April 20, 2011, with subsequent releases on Windows PC and the Playstation Network on May 4, 2011 and in Summer 2011 respectively.

This will be no ordinary shooter download, as the title features elements gamers have come to expect from full retail releases. Prejudice once again includes popular moves, such as spawning in from 15,000 feet, using jet packs for evasive maneuvers, and utilizing "Overdrive" to ram enemies in combat. The single player experience will keep fans happy with a noted five-hour story-driven campaign, while the meat of the replay hours will fall heavily on the multiplayer modes.

In "Conquest mode," large-scale battles will ensue with support for up to 32 players at a time. A survival mode, dubbed "Swarm mode," will allow four players to cooperatively defend their surroundings against waves of enemies. Like other popular shooters, Prejudice will have customizable loadouts, level progression, unlockables, stat tracking, and support for Clan management. Unlike some of the bigger shooter titles, the game will include bot support for all modes and will be running on dedicated serves--on all platforms--to ensure an even battlefield.

“As the release of Prejudice quickly approaches, we’re really excited to unveil loyalty rewards for players of the original Section 8," said Adel Chaveleh, President and CEO of TimeGate Studios. TimeGate also released info on their loyalty rewards system, which unlocks various upgrades for anyone meeting certain requirements after having played the original Section 8 as of April 20th, 2011. All players of the original, regardless of status, will instantly receive the aegis armor and reactive plating upgrades, while those who attained levels 25 and 50 will unlocked the ablative plating and explosives amplifier respectively.

Section 8: Prejudice will release for a budget price of $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points. Hopefully, this means a great game, that could have potentially been a full retail release, is trying its hand on the download market and recognizes where it will do its best. More information can be found on at the official site, by following the game on Twitter, or on Facebook.
