Revenge of the Sith DVD Release Date Set

Those wondering when the final movie in the Star Wars saga will hit DVD, no longer have to wait for an answer. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith will hit store shelves world wide on November 1st. This is the same day that Lucasfilm Ltd. plans to release their latest video game, Star Wars: Battlefront II. Lucasfilm Ltd. announced this just today.

The DVD will be a 2-disc set displaying the movie and tons of extra features. Some features already planned include a 15 part documentary series that was made specifically for the web. This is similar to the documentary that was included on the 2-disc set for Attack of the Clones. Other features include a making of the film and featurettes focusing on certain aspects of the filming. George Lucas made sure to document each and every detail of this final film. Fans will have the complete set of the Star Wars saga available for purchase, and just in time for Christmas.

As a long time fan, I’m one of those anxiously waiting for the film’s release onto DVD. It is sad that it is the end of this saga taking place in a galaxy far, far away, but to have the ability to have all the films together at least will be great. A fan will be able to sit down and watch all six movies. Hopefully, not in one sitting because sitting still for that long might be painful. I’m looking forward to the DVD release of this final chapter.

Also on Nov 1, the 6-dvd set, the 12-dvd set, the unreleased, unedited version of Greedo's shooting, the Vader-loves-yoda tee, the Chewbacca cigar, the ....heh

The obvious advantage of the E3 DVD is being able to do a frame by frame (and zoom times 4) of the Emperor's face getting scarred by Mace Windu reflecting the Sith electricity.

I expect that scene to be comparable to the frame by frame sequence of Martin Landau losing his head in the beginning of Sleepy Hollow.

Having seen the movie in the theater a few times (and always with qualifying remarks like, "It's just for the spectacle... I know the acting and dialog sucks!") I'm really looking forward to sitting down on my couch and savoring every detail of the battle sequences. Because really, aren't they the most redeeming aspect of these sadly shallow prequels?
