PlayStation Network Update: 10/09/2008

Part of: PlayStation Network Updates

This week on the PSN, we are introduced to Sony's dirty side with more useless pay content than we have ever seen before.

First is Qore. I have given up on this magazine unless someone tells me different. The Valkyria Chronicles demo I will get from the Europe store; otherwise Qore is on my do not call list. The obligatory Rock Band tracks are on display; Offspring = good, the other bands? Not so much.

We also have a Hot Shots Golf costumes set, a Dead Space pay for outfit (and a free one), FIFA 09 team packs (stupidly priced) and the really stupid pay themes. We also have the new challenge mode for Mega Man 9 as well as the Proto Man mode. The stuff on offer here is completely useless and overpriced. I really, really hope all this stuff fails miserably.

We finally have Linger in Shadows this week. I am curious how it is. A PSN version of Puzzle Quest makes an appearance, meaning this game has now officially appeared on every console and handheld. Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars also appears out of nowhere, not even sure what this game is about.

To round it out, we have two Civilization Revolutions packs - one free, one not so much, as well as some Super Stardust HD bundles for those who have yet to enjoy this great game.

On the demo front, we finally have a Warhawk demo. If you haven't tried this game yet, now is the perfect time. There is also a Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars demo so you can try before you buy.

There are videos looking at LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, NBA 09, Socom Confrontation, Bioshock, Legendary, Mercenaries 2, Soul Caliber IV and Tom Clancy's EndWar. We also have themes for Wipeout HD and Fallout 3, as well as wallpapers for Linger in Shadows, Valkyria Chronicles and ATV Pure.

I can't help but look at this week's update in disgust. There are some good things here, but they are just obscured by all the vileness.
