First off, I have to apologize for the lateness in delivering this PSN update; life got in the way and as I was working on something else I realized I had not done this ... oops!
On to the goodies! As everyone had better know, Wipeout HD has been unleashed on the PSN and having downloaded and played the hell out of it I can say it is AWESOME. The visuals, music, speed, action, look, feel and all around fun factor makes this a MUST have game. Oh, and I have already completed (and won) a 12 round online tournament, so I can verify the online is smooth as silk as well.
There is other content this week as well. In particular Burnout Paradise has been launched to the PSN. It is one of the better games on the PS3 and if you don't have it yet, now is the time to grab it. It comes equipped with all the expansion packs and trophy support, so it is a HUGE game for 30 bucks.
The other major addition is the retro-designed Mega Man 9, looking very much like a true 8-bit game from back in the day. As mentioned in our weekly podcast, it is not my type of game, but they do have a demo if you want to try it for yourself.
We also have a retooled version of Geon for your downloading pleasure. On the PSP front, we have downloadable versions of Untold Legends Brotherhood of the Blade and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords (amazing game), as well as a demo for Pipe Mania.
There are demos for the two NBA 09 games, the Inside and Live. I am not a huge NBA series fan, but I am intrigued by the Inside and how it brings you a story based basketball experience.
On the add-on front, there is the typically late Rock Band tracks (Moving Pictures album among others) as well as a number of themed quiz packs for Buzz! Quiz TV. The packs seem a little pricy considering the ability is there to make your own quizzes.
On the multimedia front, we have videos looking at PAIN's new characters, Resistance 2, Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway, Burnout Paradise, Dead Space and Tomb Raider: Underworld. Rounding it out, we have a few movie trailers as well as some themes and wallpapers to pimp your PS3.
All in all a spectacular PSN update; details are below.
