PlayStation Network Update: 09/10/2009

Part of: PlayStation Network Updates

Why is the Facts of Life theme song going through my head? Maybe it is because the update this week is a mixed bag on the good old PlayStation store.

Finally there are some great PSOne classics, no useless obscure games this week. We have the great Silent Hill, the even better Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Syphon Filter 2. All are quality games at a good price, Sony this is what people want, keep it up!

We also finally get the TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled game, better late then never I suppose. It is also nice to see a demo version of the game as well, a rarity for the PSN (although it shouldn't be). Speaking of demos we also have one for Katamari Forever and Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes. All look worth a spin so it is appreciated that they are here.

There are even two great PSP games and a PSP demo for Half-Minute Hero. The PSP games are good ones, but Sony needs to understand that retail versions sell for much less in stores and the price should be listed accordingly, just because you think WipEout Pulse MSRP's for $22.99 doesn't mean retailers sell the year and a half old game for that much.

That was the good news, the bad is the same old story, crappy DLC for too much money. Do we need George Takei in PAIN? More High Velocity Bowling piddly content? Crappy overpriced themes? A single unlockable character in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for two bucks? Not really but every week it is there so I guess some are buying.

All in all I would say it was a good update with some quality content to enjoy and fluff to ignore. For more details, please visit the official PlayStation Blog.

Thanks as always for your great PlayStation Updates. Very valuable info for someone like me who doesn't get nearly as much time to hop on my PS3 system as I'd like.
