PlayStation Network Update: 07/30/2009

Part of: PlayStation Network Updates

Well hello there! How are you? Long time no see! Sorry I have been gone for a while, but I am back and you can breathe a sigh of relief, my sarcastic (and hopefully helpful) look at the PSN updates are back baby!

So to start off this round of what to buy, let me say that what to buy is the absolutely amazing and highly anticipated Fat Princess. This RTS meets action game meets RPG has finally arrived. The game has one side defending the stolen princess and feeding her cake (to make her larger and it harder to escape with her of course) and the other trying to rescue her. Fat Princess looks great and all the buzz and early previews/reviews have been great!

While Fat Princess is the most anticipated release there is much more for us to download and enjoy....or not. There is the second part to the Watchmen: The End is Nigh. Hopefully it is better then the first abysmal part (which shouldn't be hard). We also see a new PSOne classic in the form Spec Ops: Airborne Commando.  I have never heard of this game, that may tell you something.

Next, we have demos for the new Madden NFL 10 game as well as one for Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2. Why is it that the bad games sometimes get demos but great new releases like Fat Princess don't? The Watchmen demo may encourage people not to buy the game as much as the lack of a Fat Princess demo will discourage people from buying it. Sony needs a lesson in logic methinks.

Add-on content is plentiful with extra content for Rag Doll Kung Fu, Cross Edge, Dynasty Warriors 6, and of course Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Rock Band wins on the music front with Blink 182 (pass), Kiss, and Weezer packs. Cross Edge has some pay packs, but some free as well. All the Dynasty Warriors items are free. Both of these games have had many, many free add-ons and that is really nice to see.

The typical gaming videos looking at MAG and Killzone 2's new DLC are here as well as some overpriced themes. We do have some sweet Katamari and Noby Noby Boy themes for the amazing price of zero dollars though.
