Wow is all I can say. I have no idea how anyone can have any complaints about this weeks update. New games...check, new demos...check, PSP downloadable game...check, tons of media...check. Oh wait, there are no PS1 classics and people will still moan about lack of trophy support and in-game music, I for one am very happy (and poor) as a result of this week's update.
The HUGE item this week is the entire episodic release of Siren: Blood Curse which I will buy once the 320GB harddrive I just bought on Ebay arrives. At 8.9GB Siren is a Blu-Ray scale game on the PSN and if it is like the demo should be a real (creepy) treat to play. We also see 1942: Joint Strike , an update to the Capcom classic. For the PSP we also see the classic game Parappa the Rapper (the PSP port not the PS1 original).
But that is not all - there is a demo for the highly anticipated Q-Games opus PixelJunk Eden. A note on PixelJunk Eden, yes it is a 'small' PSN game, but it has trophies, remote play and YouTube upload plus from all reports a blast to play. Not bad for a small game.
There is also a summer sale on the PSN featuring PAIN, PixelJunk Monsters, High Velocity Bowling, High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition and Rocketmen: Axis of Evil all at the wonderful price of $4.99 (in US and CDN dollars no less). I picked up PAIN and PixelJunk Monsters finally due to this sale.
Not done yet, there is the typical music entries with the Rock Band NiN and Shinedown tracks as well as the Guitar Hero III: Guitar Virtuoso Pack.
On the media front we have videos looking at PixelJunk Eden, Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando Re-Armed. We also see wallpapers for Killzone 2, PixelJunk Eden, Fracture and Siren as well as a Street Fighter IV and Siren theme.
Tis a great day to own a PS3, with tons of games to try and buy, plus free stuff to shine up your XMB with. Enjoy it, all the deets are below.
