PlayStation Network Update: 06/05/2008

Part of: PlayStation Network Updates

As I write this the new interactive video magazine PSN Qore has not been released yet, I am planning on buying at least one issue and reporting on it for everyone. In the meantime I guess our fears of no content are slightly unfounded!

We have two new full games, the first is the PSN exclusive Novastrike an intriguing goal based overheard shooter. It is free roaming, not a traditional dual stick shooter and looks quite promising. We also have the multi-platform Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 released. It is a colorful smash brother looking game that supports three player co-op and multiplayer options.

On the add-on front we see the requisite Rock Band tracks and promotion deals for the week. For Guitar Hero III we see the Moorhead track pack as well as the free God of War track for some hard strumming goodness. Sony was nice enough to give a music only version for free so you can listen to it outside of the game.

We have demos for the intriguing Civilization Revolution, the newest game from Sid Meier and his first made exclusively for consoles. A multiplayer demo for Battlefield: Bad Company makes an appearance. Last but least (I joke, I joke) is the demo for Nascar 09, a slightly revitalized take on the Nascar franchise.

Finally on the multimedia front we have game videos for Guitar Hero III - God Of War Add-On, Resident Evil 5, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, Dead Space and the next LucasArts opus Fracture. Finally there is a Retro theme for all to enjoy.

This is a great update and hopefully resurgence for Sony's PSN service.

I played a few minutes of Civ Revolutions at E for All last year. I'm sure they've made a lot of changes since then but at the time, it seemed like a watered down version of Civ IV.
