Another Thursday and yet again another underwhelming PSN update. No original PSN games, no PSOne games. All we get is The Con, a PSP game (that is very overpriced at 19.99) and two Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 demos for the PSP.
On the Add-on front there are the formerly European exclusive Rock Band tracks added to the store, as well as a very well-priced soundtrack for the game PixelJunk Monsters. The music in that game is very distinctive and well made; at $3.00 it is a must to download.
There is a literal boatload of videos today looking at Siren: Blood Curse, GRID, Battlefield: Bad Company, Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars. We also have movie trailers for Untraceable, National Treasure 2 and First Sunday. Finally there are a few themes for High Velocity Bowling and the Graffiti theme that was already released in Europe.
Sony really needs to work on their DLC schedule here. We are in the early summer slowdown period and we need to start seeing some more content. Again, we want to buy, but Sony is not willing/able to sell us anything.
PSP Downloadable Games
The Con ($19.99)
In an underworld where illegal fighting tournaments exist and high-stakes gambling takes center stage, your skills as a fighter are matched only by your wits as an ex-con. Create and customize your own character with deep character customization features including “Image Import,” allowing you to upload your photo directly (via Memory Stick) to the PlayStation Portable and put your face onto your in-game character. Learn reprogrammable fighting combinations based on five different brawling disciplines - Boxing, Wrestling, Kick Boxing, Tae Kwon Do and Jeet Kune Do. Train your fighter to fight solo or in a team of three in Story Mode where your ability to build up your team and implementing match-up strategy plays a huge role. In addition, utilizing Ad Hoc mode that enables wireless gaming, The Con allows players to compete in various head-to-head fighting matches.
PSP Game Demos (free)
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 Beginner Demo
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 Intermediate Demo
Two demos for the new PSP game Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2, developer Clap Hanz promises more of the series' trademark oddball characters and realistic golf physics in its second handheld outing. The number of characters and courses has been doubled, meaning gamers can use two-dozen golfers to duff around 12 highly detailed courses.
