PlayStation Network Update: 04/09/2009

Part of: PlayStation Network Updates

Small but full update on the good old PlayStation store. We have two full games to choose from, the first is Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, a PSN exclusive. This Kung Fu party fighting game (think Smash Brothers) has a great graphical look, rag doll physics (of course) a solid single player and great multiplayer action. Looking forward to reviews or a demo, I may just pick this up.

The other major release is the Capcom sandbox/puzzle game called FLOCK. Through 50 levels use your UFO to steer livestock into your waiting MotherFlocker ship. Bright graphics, a level editor and deeper then expected gameplay make this an interesting game to look into. There is a demo available this week for the game, so try before you buy.

That was the good news, the bad is that there really is not much else. There is a REALLY overpriced LittleBigPlanet Rag Doll Kung Fu Costume Pack, this is the same price as the MGS4 level pack and only gives new costumes. Please do not buy any of these packs, only get the level pack, we need to send Sony and Media Molecule a message. Rock Band gets Toby Keith songs (ugh, Country Band?) and Guitar Hero gets songs from a band no one has heard of.

There is an episode of Pulse to get you excited for the state of the PSN and there are some themes, wallpapers and videos to further fill up your hard drive. Finally there is a demo for the jam packed Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection package, if retro gaming is your thing you need to check out the demo and the full title.

Overall a nice week because of the full games and demos, but slim in comparison with other weeks. I can't help thinking that some PS1 classics (come on Capcom...you promised!) would have been appreciated. Below is a list of all the items added to this week's PSN update.
