F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, from the creators Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, is the sequel to F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon. F.E.A.R. 2 is a first-person shooter that will keep you on the edge of your seat every moment of play, making you jump at the slightest of noises. This spine-chilling story begins as a horror story for Special Forces Michael Becket as his orders are to find and retrieve a girl named Alma (Spanish for "death") Wade. As Becket searches for Alma, a nuclear bomb explodes in the city and brings his worse nightmares to reality as he is knocked unconscious and taken to a laboratory underground for testing and recovery.
As Becket, fight through blackouts, explosions, hallucinations, and mutated human beings as you continue your search for Alma while you escape. Use your surroundings to your advantage as you can flip over tables, move objects to provide cover fire, and move in slow motion (using the triangle button). Switch between a variety of weapons, including a napalm cannon (anyone for a BBQ?), automatic shotguns, a sniper rifle, and much more. Man the cockpit of an EPA (Elite Powered Armor), which gives you complete domination over your enemy as you travel the streets of the city above. The EPA is equipped with dual mini guns (R2), missile launcher (R1), and thermal vision (up arrow). Use to dual mini guns to literally “powder” the replica soldiers.
Online play was fun and interesting. As you begin a match, you receive a set amount of points to apply to your character. With those points you can purchase weapons, grenades, and armor. You can change these after you die and can also pick up weapons that have been dropped by friendly or enemy players that have been killed. There are many different types of online play to choose from. You have the normal deathmatch and team deathmatch. There is also Control, which is a “capture and defend” type of play. Finally, there's Armored Front, in which you win by capturing all the points or have a majority of them before the time runs out. To add to all the chaos and mayhem that’s involved in Armored Front, each team has their own EPA (Elite Powered Armor) to control. In Blitz, you have to capture more PHLAGs (PHosphoLuminescent AGent) than the opposing team. I dare to you say Phospholuminescent Agent three times as quickly as you can. The final online play game type is Failsafe, in which one team tries to plant and detonate a bomb while the other team tries to prevent that from happening.
