Strong music (SingStar Pop Vol. 2) and exclusive (Yakuza 2) games combined with multi-console titles like Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed have kept Sony’s Playstation 2 console going strong right into yet another holiday gaming season full of varied titles.
This season, PS2 players can benefit from the release of even more several high profile, multi-console platform games including Tomb Raider Underworld (Dec. 8), Sonic Unleashed (Nov. 18), LEGO Batman, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (Oct. 21), Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (Oct. 28), Shrek's Carnival Craze (Oct. 28), and Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant(Oct. 7).
Other unique multi-console games coming to the PS2 include Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (Oct. 20), Bigfoot: Collision Course (Oct. 14), the simulation game Monster Lab (Nov. 5), the puzzler Pipe Mania (Sept. 30), M&Ms Adventure (Nov. 18), Monopoly (Oct. 20), the shooter History Channel: Civil War - Secret Missions (Nov. 4), and Martial Arts: Capoeira (Oct. 27).
Music is alive and good with Guitar Hero World Tour (Oct. 26) with complete band or complete guitar versions. Players can get another Rock Band Track Pack (Vol. 2) on October 3 or wait until November 18 for Rock Band 2, also available in special edition. The SingStar series expands to Country and Legends on October 28. Disney Sing It (Oct. 7) features the best tunes from the Mouse House while High School Musical 3: Senior Year (Oct. 28) also has a mat bundle to get players moving.
PopStar Guitar (Oct. 28) follows a garage band template with career mode for single players and mini game and co-op mode for multiple players. Rock University Presents The Naked Brothers Band: The Video Game (Oct. 20) combines managing and stage production elements to the standard music features.
Fighting fans get treated with two compilation titles - Mortal Kombat Kollection (Sept. 29) and King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga (Oct. 21). Dynasty Warriors 6 (Nov. 18) jumps back to the PS2 with exclusive content while Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World (Nov. 4) represents the final PS2 installment of the series.
The PS2 exclusive Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories (Dec. 2), a remediation of the GameBoy Advance game, offers new content and a bridge between the first and second Kingdom Hearts installments. The RPG/board game combination Dokapon Kingdom (Oct. 14) also features and four player gameplay and “friendship destroying” actions.
