PC Game Review: Dungeon Siege II: Broken World

This one player RPG from 2K games includes a decent storyline that occurs one year after events of Dungeon Siege II.

A new campaign, new Dwarves (with high damage resistance) and pets – pack rams (to carry items) and Kohl beasts (for combat) mix in with familiar characters as you try to save Aranna from a dark wizard.

Players can import character classes (after finishing campaign – at least minimal difficulty) into Dungeon Siege II and vice versa – a great feature that adds more variety and challenge to adventure replays.

New playable character groups include blood assassin and fist of stone. Both have a good balance of magic and combat.

It’s a close contest, but the blood assassin has a slight advantage due to long-range combat abilities, a special (and very gory) power related to blood and post-fight damage they can inflict on enemies.

Players should reassign skill points so each of these characters has an equal amount distributed.

Low on strategy, but high on action (and mouse/button activity) this title offers a good level of challenge for most gamers.

Side missions and some creative monster fights add some more variety/originality among a uniform, visual experience.

This expansion increases the number of auto cast slots from two to four while offering new armors and regent recipes that allow players to combine elements together to make special pieces for use.

A one time play experience to conquer the single player mode for veterans (about 10 to 15 hours total), but multiplayer fans and gamers who haven’t played Dungeon Siege II yet might find better results.

Recommended.

Look for Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony for the PSP system for another all-new non-linear adventure, single player campaign plus competitive/co-op multiplayer options.

Dungeon Siege II: Broken World is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB for Intense Violence, Blood and Gore. Dungeon Siege II needed to play.
