Nintendo’s Pre-TGS Conference Confirms Slide-Pad Peripheral, New Games and 3D Video Recording

Part of: NewsFlash

During a conference in Japan yesterday morning, Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, announced an array of new reasons for 3DS owners to get excited during the coming months.

Fresh from the rumor train, Nintendo officially announced the circle-pad add-on which was featured in the last issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. The peripheral snaps onto the 3DS unit to provide a second circle-pad and an additional shoulder button, designed for use with two upcoming 3DS installments of the popular Monster Hunter franchise; the gadget will be compatible with titles such as Resident Evil: Revelations and Metal Gear Solid. The 3DS slide pad add-on will be available from December 10th in Japan for around ¥1500 and will run on a single AA battery.

New title announcements include Square Enix’s curiously named Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, a new entry into the Fire Emblem franchise along with Culdcept, soccer simulation game Calciobit, and scary game Shinrei Camera from the Fatal Frame guys.

The company also confirmed the ability for 3DS users to record video in 3D in a November firmware update, along with a disappointing delay pushing back the release of both Kid Icarus Uprising and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D into next year.
