Nintendo DS Review: Tony Hawk - American Sk8land

Another game out of the famous Tony Hawk series, American Sk8land for Nintendo DS really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Activision failed at trying to make a good-looking handheld Tony Hawk game.

The characters on this game are really weird looking. During game play, the skaters have no facial expressions at all. When you talk to people or progress with the cinematic story after completing a level, they have the same face most of the time basically and really shows that they didn't take advantage of the Nintendo DS. The cheesy cartoon environment is also a very big disappointment. My friends warned me not to buy it, but I did and now I have seen the worst of the whole Tony Hawk series. They should really stop working on the warehouse and start working on making this game a lot better than what it is.

The Sk8land songs you hear on the game are not that exciting. All of the music in the game consists of punk rock music from a couple of bands. It is really difficult trying to concentrate on the game when you have to keep listening to a guy talk about how much he likes dirt. There are no swear words in the songs so no need to worry little kiddies. Unless you guys want to hear corny songs and a guy singing about how much he likes dirt in and all over his body, then don't buy this game at all.

The game play is not interesting at all. The towns are small, the goals are small, and I don't see how you can get excitement out of this bad game. The speed of the skater and all is like the average Tony Hawk games, but a little slower. There really isn't much to say about the game play of Sk8land, except for it is amazingly short and amazingly boring.
