Nintendo DS Review: Squinkies 2 - Adventure Mall Surprize

Part of: Kiddie Corner

If you're looking for all things cute and adorable, you have found it in this Nintendo DS game. Squinkies are a popular, tiny, collectible children's toy that come in various looks (dogs, cats, people, etc.). Each one comes in its very own brightly colored bubble and you can buy a variety of different play sets they can live and lay in.

Squinkies 2: Adventure Mall Surprize is a video game based on the Squinkies toys. Adventure Mall Surprize is a brand new mall that has just opened. Your Squinkie needs to travel throughout the mall and invite the other Squinkies to the Squnkies Grand Opening party by giving them each an invitation.

Squinkies 2: Adventure Mall Surprize is an arcade style game that will have you maneuvering your Squinkie up and down platforms and running through various areas to collect gold coins and special numbered coins you must collect in order. You simply run into the other Squinkies to give them their invitation. The game is played in four different settings including the stores, the food court and the rides. You'll find some of the Squinkies on the bottom level but others you have to jump from platform to platform to find while avoiding traps that open in the floor or escalators that you slide off.

The game itself is played on the bottom half of the DS using the directional keys and the buttons. You maneuver using the directional keys and jump using the A button. The longer you hold the button, the higher you jump. You will also use the stylus to click on various things and to unlock each new level. The game will speak to you along with showing the words on the top screen.
