Nintendo DS Review: Ping Pals

THQ has brought many Nintendo DS-owning chat lovers a game that consists of annoying bots and funny words that end up making you rich! Ping Pals game was bearable... if you have a great sense of humor and six other friends who won't kill you for making them play this game.

This game had some pretty decent graphics for the Nintendo DS. It's expected for the game to have chat avatars, but they could at least have some facial expressions. The first time I played this game, I thought I was in a Bratz chat room. When it comes down to what the clothes look like, they look pretty nice on the people. Having half of their body cut off is, to me, a stupid idea because in a lot of video/animated chat rooms you can always see the full body picture. Being able to see the full body allows you to see more of the clothes, which makes your character look a lot better.

The graphics were nice, but still could have used a little more work.

To my eyes, this game had a really pointless storyline. Actually it didn't have a story line at all. I thought the chat was interesting at a lot of moments, but when the annoying bots come in, it starts to ruin not only the conversation, but the game as well. I usually chat for a while and then look for a quick game or two. That's why they put mini games in there such as “Hi-Lo," "Top 10," "Doodle, " and "Hot Potato.” I believe the games are really fun when you have a lot of people playing at once. The game goes up to seven people with single card download and gets very interesting when you actually have people that like to chat (motor mouths). Altogether Ping Pals really isn't a fun game unless you have other people to play with. At least you only need one cartridge.

Get some friends together when you get a chance to play this game because if you don't, you will end up falling asleep the second you play it. The only interesting part of the game is when the green dinosaur dances in its underpants at the beginning. That's it.

The sound gets really annoying when you have to listen to the same old, boring tune (unless you spend thousands of coins on one pathetic song). Most of the music in the game really makes you feel like you are chatting with other people in an elevator. When I chat, the music gets on my nerves so much I decide to quit playing for a long time. A good game should have numerous songs that the people playing the game would enjoy. It is hard to buy songs in this game because the only way to earn money is by saying certain words, and once the words are said, they can never be used again to earn money. I don't ever bother buying the songs because most of them are around 5000 coins and that can be hard enough to earn.

Wow. Two stars and it's the best score the game ever got. Scary.

Actually....the dinosaur that dances in his underpants at the beginning ROCKS!!! I gave it an extra star due to the fact that the dinosaur can dance really well. lol

Yes, two stars is a little high for this game. It's a guilty pleasure of mine though - Ping Pals is such a bad game, I got some sick, twisted enjoyment out of it.
