SNK Playmore USA will be giving players a real-deal package with Metal Slug Anthology, recently announcing the newest title in the franchise will be making the collection.
When SNK Playmore originally announced the compilation on the series’ 10th anniversary, it was set to include arcade-perfect ports of the first six Metal Slug titles (1-5 and X). The company announced yesterday it will add Metal Slug 6 to the title set to release this November for the Sony PSP and Nintendo Wii.
Metal Slug 6 was released earlier this year to arcades as the first Metal Slug game to appear on the company’s new Atomisware arcade hardware as opposed to MVS. The original game in the series launched in arcades in April 1996
The martians return in part six but now players will have to team up with the Rebel-Martian alliance to take down an even bigger threat.
The new installment also brings in two more characters – Ralf Jones and Clark Steel of Ikari Warriors and King of Fighters fame – to the cast of Marco Rossi, Tarma Roving, Eri Kasmoto and Fio Germi.
The Sony PSP version will feature Wi-Fi (ad hoc) support for two-player games.
While there are few details on the Nintendo Wii version, a release the company provided in May announced the version will be “a full arcade collection including many additional surprises.” The announcement came during SNK’s decision to support the Wii as well as the Nintendo DS with an upcoming SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters title.
