The PSP will be getting a dose of high-octane game play this week with the release of M.A.C.H. by Sierra Entertainment.
Developed by Kuju Entertainment, M.A.C.H., or Modified Air Combat Heroes, takes to the skies with arcade-style game play, pitting players and fight-filled flights to the finish through races or dogfights.
Taking place later in the twenty-first century, governments have since switched to unmanned aircraft to save lives in combat, much to the dismay of thousands of fighter pilots who now have no livelihood. With decommissioned jets surfacing on the black market, underground circuits of ex-fighter pilots, smugglers and hobbyists have taken to the cockpit to earn fame and wealth.
M.A.C.H. will feature four modes of play including arcade, career, challenge and multiplayer. The arcade mode allows for pick-up-and-play action in short bursts in exhibition-type races and battles. By progressing through the career mode, a number of tournaments through various landscapes will unlock new features in arcade mode as players win access to enemy planes and cash. Not only can players unlock new planes, but their current planes can be upgraded through a little spending.
Challenge mode presents the tasks of M.A.C.H. melee, M.A.C.H. dash, time check, M.A.C.H. lap and dog tag modes. In multiplayer, up to eight opponents can compete in races or dogfights over Ad Hoc wireless play. M.A.C.H. will support the PSP’s game sharing option, allowing multiplayer even with one copy of the title.
M.A.C.H. is currently scheduled to release Feb. 20.
