Those gamers of a certain age remember Wizardry with great affection and nostalgia. It is series of games that were at the forefront of bringing pen and paper role playing into the computer age when they began in 1985. Now you can play Wizardy on your iOS device. Or at least in theory -- this modern version has quite a few problems.
For those not in the know, the game is a standard dungeon crawler. It includes the normal set of adventure types as well as several different races in either male or female
The major problem with the game is that the user interface is so cluttered and small that it is hard to see anything and when you do frequently you hit the wrong space on the screen. It is extremely hard to play for long without getting a headache.
Of course, getting to that point is not really possible because the game also frequently crashes. To add to the frustration, the game overrided the mute switch on the phone and you get the initial music no matter what you do.
Wizardry suffers from having so much stuff on the screen in its UI that the space for your fingers to move one direction is tiny and hard to find even for anyone with the smallest of hands. You find yourself going the wrong direction or worse yet taking actions you did not want to because your finger was not exactly on the spot needed for that action. Graphically, the game does not live up to the standard expected by modern games. A less cluttered screen might make the game easier to play and make it more stable.
What might help is if you could play the game on iPad unfortunately the game does not support the larger iOS device. This would solve the cluttered screen problem and make the game far less frustrating to play.
Those interested might want to wait for an update before giving this game a shot.
