Downloads gone wild
Both the Wii and Xbox 360 get their dose of weekly downloadable goods as the Virtual Console sees the addition of three classic titles while the Live Marketplace is graced with a retro arcade title.
Launching earlier this morning, the Virtual Console saw the addition of Super Mario World from the Super NES (800 Wii Points), Vigilante from the TG-16 (600 Wii Points) and Gain Ground from the Sega Genesis (800 Wii Points).
Vigilante borrows the old Kung-Fu brawler scheme, allowing players to punch and kick there way through horizontally-scrolling stages. The action title Gain Ground pits players in a futuristic war simulator gone awry, featuring multiple characters with different abilities.
On the Microsoft side of things, for 400 MS Points, players can download Root Beer Tapper as the latest part of the Xbox Live's nostalgia kick. The game has players filling mugs and serving rabid customers their frothy servings of root beer. The Live version of the title will feature 12 achievements and two-player online play. Root Beer Tapper hits at the usual time Wednesday.
Capcom Caters to Community
In order to further increase its presence and involvement with its players and fans, Capcom today launched a central portal to unify its numerous brands on a single location.
The aptly named Capcom-Unity plays host to Capcom blogs, news and information about the company and its products and a forum for players to gather and discuss various Capcom titles. Eventually the site will feature additions such as brand-specific community sites, more functionality and user-submitted content.
