Two million puts Capcom at top
Through two releases, Capcom announced it has become the single-most successful Japanese developer of games for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 system.
With sales still continuing to roll in, Capcom announced Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, released Dec. 21 in Japan and January 12 worldwide, and Dead Rising, released summer 2006, have each surpassed one million units shipped.
Gamers cracking down on Crackdown
Crackdown, scheduled for a Feb. 23 release on the Xbox 360, has gone gold, according to Microsoft Game Studios.
The game puts the responsibility of taking out the gangs of Pacific City in either a single-player campaign or a cooperative mode over Xbox Live.
Microsoft Studios further announced a downloadable demo of the title will be made available yet this month. And, of course, players will be able to imitate the dreams of finding Willy Wonka’s golden ticket, as specially-marked launch copies will contain access to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta program.
Lumines downloads finally drop
This Wednesday, gamers will finally be able to make do with their odd Microsoft point amounts, as Lumines Live! content downloadables will be offered at limited time reduced prices.
The best discount of all comes with the free download (for gold members) of the Heavenly Star Skin, featuring a song performed by Genki Rockets and produced by Q Entertainment’s Tetsuya Mizuguchi. Available for a mere 100 points each are a new vs. CPU pack and puzzle/mission pack.
After Feb. 21, the packs will increase to a cost of 300 Microsoft Points and the new skin will no longer be available.
Koei announces summer releases
Koei recently announced two projects that will be released this summer.
The futuristic racing title Fatal Inertia will feature unique weapons and customization and is the debut title from the company’s Toronto-based studio. Developed by Dynasty Warriors studio Omega Force, Bladestorm takes players back to the 14th century to recreate the epic battles between the English and French during the Hundred Years’ War in real-time combat.
Both titles will be available for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
