Demo for Quake 4 (Mac) Available
Aspyr Media, Inc., recently announced some good news for Macintosh owners in the form of Quake 4.
The company released a free demo for id Software’s latest in the series for both Power PC- and Intel-based Macs. The demo lets players romp through the first stage of the single-player mode.
Players will need a Mac with OS X 10.3.9 or later with other hardware requirements listed on the site. The retail version of the game is also available. For more information on the game, visit the official website.
Site launched for casual gaming on the Mac
The first casual game site devoted entirely to Mac users, MacFun, was recently launched.
At the site, gamers can find a range of puzzle, strategy, word, arcade and card games for the Macintosh. The site currently has plans for a regular stream of new games to add and in the coming weeks, community features will be introduced.
The website also provides Mac development services for third party and original games.
PAX to host Guild Wars event
The 2006 Penny Arcade Expo has announced it be the host of the first-ever Guild Wars live event from Aug. 25-27 in Bellevue, Wash.
More than $10,000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs in the epic Guild War factions battle between the Luxons and Kurzicks. Expo attendees are eligible to participate in eight different challenges and a final quest to earn faction points at stations located throughout the expo with results to be updated at the Guild Wars booth.
As part of the expo’s PAX 10K Arena, a special sealed-play, four versus four player version of the online game will be available for competition.
Among the prizes featured in the event are PAX prize tickets, dual-trials of Guild Wars games, Guild Wars merchandise, computer hardware and more.
