Part of: Gaming Round Up

Xbox 360 To Get Live Music Content

Microsoft announced that it has partnered with Epic Records to give a full year of exclusive artist downloads for free for the Xbox 360.

This will feature the Artist of the Month program, where 12 up-and-coming artists will have downloadable music videos available on Xbox Live. There will also be a monthly sweepstakes with the prize of gaming against one of those Artists of the Month, through the Xbox Live Game with Fame program.

"Our goal has always been to make Xbox Live a cutting-edge entertainment experience," says Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. "This agreement with Epic Records offers our members exclusive artistic content directly from the source. With Artist of the Month we will be providing exactly what music-loving gamers want: brand-new, exclusive music videos that can be downloaded quickly, easily and free of charge."
"The fusion of music and video games now plays a significant role in breaking artists and enhancing the video game experience; the cross cultivation of the two mediums helps new games and new artists thrive together," said president of Epic Records, Charlie Walk. "Through this alliance, Epic and Xbox show that we are in one business – exciting young adults and leading them to the art of discovery."

Computer Games Magazine To Launch MMO Themed Magazine

The team of Computer Games Magazine have announced that they have created a spin off publication called Massive, which will be focused on massively multiplayer online games such as EverQuest and World of Warcraft.

The magazine will be written by the staff of Computer Games Magazine, and will include features, previews, news, and will even include a DVD full of MMO demos and full games, in some instances. The first issue of Massive will be released September 19th, 2006.

"The MMO market is growing at a tremendous rate, with games like World of Warcraft dominating the sales charts worldwide," said Computer Games Magazine president Jayson Dubin. "As more people enter online worlds and these worlds become a bigger part of their everyday lives, we know it's the right time to publish this magazine. We are positioning Massive Magazine as the ultimate guide for MMO communities. We are not only going to focus on the latest games but also the world of the MMO gamer," continued Dubin. "Since Massive Magazine will be the first publication dedicated solely to MMO games, we know it will be very well received by the MMO gaming community," said Dubin. “We are confident this magazine will be a huge success."

Wow. The Katamri news is depressing. That'll be one of those "we need another sequel" games in about 10 years.

"I didn't want players to be disappointed so I decided to take part," Takahashi told the BBC last November. "There are fun things in the game, though I am not happy with all of it."

He wasn't really happy with Katamari Damacy. Least that's what it sounds like.
