Flash Games: Silversphere, The Phone, Stuck Inside, The Escape Room, Diversity, The Basement

Part of: Friday Flash Games

What a day! Days like today are why the world needs Friday Flash Games.

Every week I present three or more games for you to play, all of which depend on the web browser of your choice — so long as you choose a web browser that supports the Adobe Flash Player. I test each game on Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, but since it's Flash, that's basically pointless, because it's all the same.

I'll let you know if there is sound or music, in case you're playing the games at work or school, or maybe you've told your significant other or roommate you're working hard on a doctoral thesis.

I hope you like escape-the-room games, because this week is loaded with them! In case you're not a fan, though, I'll give you one game of a different style to play.

SilversphereSilversphere is a Sokoban-like game, with a few nice twists. Normally Sokoban derivatives are a puzzle, but the only real danger is getting stuck so you can't finish a level. In this game, there are actual hazards.

You're looking down on a marble (that's you!), and the mystic portal awaits. Those aren't walls that hem you in, however — it's water, and you can fall in and drown. Push boxes to build bridges, and avoid the gold marble along the away. And oh yes, there's a timer. I love Sokoban-style games, and this is a great one.

There is sound and music, though you can mute it once you've started the game (too late!).

The PhoneThe point of The Phone isn't to escape a room, but to find all seven valid phone numbers are reach the end credits. You're given the first three-digit phone number when you start the game (or dial 0 to hear or see it again), but the rest are found by solving puzzles attached to each number. You can actually dial the numbers in any order, though you're clearly meant to find them one at a time as you dial and click and solve.
