Electronic Arts recently announced the latest expansion planned for its The Sims franchise, which recognized its fifth anniversary February. The company will be releasing The Sims 2 Pets on current-generation console systems, handheld platforms and on the PC as an expansion pack later this year.
The new expansion will build on The Sims 2 and EA is promising each version will feature customized content tailored to each specific platform. Slated to make an appearance as your virtual pet includes animals such as dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds and more. Not only will players be able to choose from existing breeds and mixes, but also a create-a-pet feature allows for the customization of a pet’s shape and personalities.
Of course, creating or choosing a pet is only the beginning as it will need a lot of care and attention in order to stay healthy and out of trouble. Cats will claw up the furniture you just dropped a bunch of Simoleans on; leaving a dog unattended next to a flowerbed might lead to a messy result. The pets will also be able to learn tricks, enjoy time at the park and can be outfitted with a number of accessories.
“The Sims 2 Pets captures the magic between pets and their owners," said Executive Producer Rod Humble. “A dog gnawing at his chew toy, a cat jumping at a dangled feather, a toddler stroking the chest of a big dog who sits by patiently and even a frisky dog getting caught rolling around in the trash. These special moments all come to life through the lifelike animations and artwork of The Sims 2 Pets. There is something delightful about your Sim, a little pet person, having a pet of their own. Pets allows players to tell more stories with their Sims and helps create more emergent anecdotes within the game.”While pets add a bit of change into the game play, one key facet remains intact — the open-ended game play. The expansion will further allow for customizable items with special codes you can share with other The Sims 2 Pets players for more pet accessories, fur types and markings.

I cant wait for sims 2 - pets. I was wondering for a long time if you guys were going to make pets. you should make one with farm animals and you can like do crops and stuff ( after pets of course)

This game is great. Though i do agree with the idea of making a sims 2 farm. I think in that game you should be able to have farm animals and grow crops and stuff.

Hmm... I'm really peaved that you can't get this game on xbox (yet!) because I really really really really really REALLY want this game!! I love pets & animals and I really love the Sims so say: Pets+Sims=my ultimate game!!

I think you guys should REALLY make a farm version with horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, crops, farms, and other cool things a farm has. I have been anxiously waiting to see if you were. I love farms and that would be SO EXCITING if you did. PLEASE! You should really make one!

It would be awesome to have an equestrian stud farm, where you can build the stables/arenas/paddocks etc. And then you get to personally design the horses, breed them, ride and compete them!
