Duke Nukem Forever Teaser Trailer Arrives

It's been stuck in development hell for so long that it's become the butt of a long running joke: Duke Nukem Forever won't come out until the day the world ends.

Well, we may just be one step closer to Armageddon. Today, 3D Realms unleashed a brand-new teaser trailer for Duke Nukem Forever upon the Internet masses, and so far, it seems to have been met with some positive, but hesitant reaction.

The trailer itself opens in a dark room, with a lone light shining down on a bench and a familiar, very muscular figure sitting at the bench, a dumbbell in one hand and a cigar in his mouth. Interspersed are cuts of what appear to be some of the game's enemies, including what appears to be the new incarnation of the mutant pig and a giant floating head monster. Towards the end of the trailer, Duke drops the dumbbell, rises to his feet, pulls out the cigar and blows a puff of smoke that turns into the Duke Nukem logo from previous games. It then cuts to the game’s logo, followed by an audio clip from Duke himself. The trailer ends with the words "Stay Tuned," which shouldn't be a problem. We've only been doing it for 11 years, 3D Realms.

This marks the second teaser trailer we've seen for Duke Nukem Forever. The first came several years ago when the game was being developed under a different engine, but constant changes to the game's engine (reportedly ordered by executives) meant that the game has been scrapped and re-started at least five times, according to the last unofficial count.

So, what to think out of this trailer? Hopefully it means that the execs aren't meddling with the developers anymore and that we will eventually see the game. Of course, I'll be hiding in my bunker on the day the game releases.
