David Perry will be looking to break new ground as he is amid the production of not just one, but two, massively multiplayer online games for play on Acclaim Games’ official Web site.
“No mercy for the weak, no pity for the dying, no tears for the slain,” is the motto for Perry’s mature-rated MMORPG entitled 2Moons. The title is based on Dekaron, a Korean MMO that has achieved success overseas and Acclaim is bringing the title to the U.S. along with Bots and 9Dragons, two MMO titles already featured and running on the site. However, Perry is taking extra strides to re-make the game from the ground-up so it is more in tune with western audiences.
“Many Asian games just get translated and thrown out on the USA market,” he said. “Acclaim wanted to change that model. There’s a clear need for western developers to get involved if the games end up here. This is a special situation where the original game creator and I have decided to partner on this challenge – to take the framework of a working, successful MMO and re-make it specifically for Western audiences.”
Sunghun Baek, designer and chief technical officer for GameHi of Korea, was the partner picked by Perry to assist him on the 2Moons project.
Perry is promising an arcade fighting system in which players will aim to become a level 100+ warrior. However, the journey won’t be easy as characters will have to take down a variety of enemies in hand-to-hand combat.
If slaying and questing isn’t your thing, Perry’s other venture takes a complete 180, asking players to lace up their dancing shoes. DANCE! will release as the United State’s first multiplayer online dancing game pitting players each other in dance battles.
Players will be able to create custom characters to their own tastes and take them to the dance floor where they will try to keep the beat along with licensed music tracks from artists around the world. Friends lists will be included in the affair and the unique new couples system will allow a male and female character to enter couples competitions.
