Children's Toy Review: Glow Crazy Distance Doodler

Part of: Kiddie Corner

As a busy mom, I am always looking for ways to keep my kids occupied when I have things to do. While I love activities that urge them to be creative, many of them are messy and require supervision. I am not letting a younger child use finger paints or markers out of my eyesight. I cannot tell you how many shirts, hands, and tabletops have been "creatively enhanced" by an unsupervised child with art supplies.

Glow Crazy allows your child to be creative safely and neatly as they draw and write with light from over 10 feet away. Each Glow Crazy Distance Doodler contains two Glow Clings that are 12" x 30" each. You peel the adhesive backing off the Glow Cling and put it on the wall or ceiling. It is made to be removable without damaging the surface it's stuck to so no worries about damaging the wall.

Your Glow Crazy Distance Doodler comes with four different paper stencil sheets that you can tape to your wall or the Glow Cling and trace designs. You can make your own stencils as well if you'd like something different to trace. You use a Dual-Action Lightwand to draw and write with. This Lightwand uses 4 AAA batteries to work and is very simple to operate. You simply press the black button and point it toward the Glow Cling as you draw in the air. It works up to ten feet away. The Lightwand has a wide beam erase feature to clear the canvas so you can start again. It also has a silhouette feature so you could place your hand in front of the Glow Cling and use the Lightwand to color everything but your hand.

The Glow Crazy Distance Doodler works best in a completely dark room for a glow that lasts long and is bright. You need to move the Lightwand slowly for the best results. This is a fantastic way to let your child be creative without worries of them painting the walls or themselves. Glow Crazy also has a Glow to Go which is a smaller version of the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler that you can take with you in a carrying case — perfect for long car trips. There's even a Doodle Dome which is a small tent like structure your child can sit inside and decorate. You can purchase extra clings or an extra Lightwand separately.
