On 4 September, Debkafiles reported a huge buildup of military forces off the Mediterranean that appears to be continuing as I write this two days later.

DEBKAfile’s’ editors call the article, “’Lebanese Security’ Is the Pretext for the Naval Babel around Lebanon's Shores.” Someone who lives here should pay close attention to military buildups nearby, particularly of foreign forces. So I do.

According to the article, the buildup of naval forces off Lebanon is far greater than what ought to be required for the beefed up “UNIFIL” of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The article lists the following forces gathering off of Lebanon: “two carriers with 75 fighter-bombers, spy planes and helicopters on their decks; 15 warships of various types – 7 French, 5 Italian, 2-3 Greek, 3-5 German, and five American; thousands of Marines – French, Italian and German, as well as 1,800 US Marines.” Supposedly, this is for the implementation of the resolution cited above. But is it?

DEBKAfiles speculates that an assault on Iran and Syria is being prepared for with the United States and Israel working together with the international force off Lebanon’s shores. One should remember that DEBKAfiles was founded by former Israeli intelligence types and often serves as a sort of backdoor for what the Mossad (Israel’s spy organization) wants to leak to the media. DEBKAfiles is not always on the money with its prognostications, though its analyses of past events tend to be excellent. This is a prognostication, what the editors at DEBKAfiles believe will happen. If it is, then it would seem that it finally is occurring that the United States is openly recognizing Israel as a strategic ally, and planning a joint attack with her. I am not so sure. In my opinion, this is what the editors at DEBKAfiles want to believe will happen.

The article goes into what it believes may be the weakness of the operation, a split command. According to the article, “…the NATO fleet will remain under NATO command, and Israel's air and naval units will take their orders from Israeli Navy Headquarters in Haifa and the General Staff in Tel Aviv.”

Wow! Israel gets to command its own fleet in a joint international military attack on Syria and Iran? If I were a former Mossadnik, I’d certainly want this!

But let's back up and consider U.S.-Israeli history. George Marshall, Secretary of State in November 1947, told Harry Truman point blank that the creation of a Jewish state in the Middle East was a strategic mistake. He was so adamant on this that when Truman overruled his judgment, he quit his job. The United States' State Department always maintained this view, and its program has been to weaken Israel over the years in order to ameliorate the error, using various stratagems to accomplish the task. In 1948-9, the stratagem was to be a “neutral non-combatant” refusing to sell arms to “either side” in the conflict, effectively boycotting Israel as other nations were selling arms to the Arabs. In 1967 and 1973 the stratagems were the threat “you’ll be on your own.” In 1967, this didn’t work. Israel went alone and attacked – and won spectacularly.

In 1973, the Israeli government quailed before American threats and waited for the attack on Yom Kippur. The Israeli government relied on the promises of a Jewish Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, assuming that he would come through on the arms package agreed to resupply the country as it lost jets, missiles, and tanks. It turned out that Kissinger, even though he was Jewish, was following the State Department handbook of weaken and destroy Israel. It was James Schlesinger who told the president why the Israelis were losing in 1973, and Nixon confronted Kissinger and demanded that the arms resupply package be delivered.

Independently, Alexander Haig, on his own authority, ordered TOW anti-tank missiles for the Israelis and had Israelis flown in to learn how to use them. It was these TOW missiles that stopped the Arab tanks in their track in the Sinai and in the Heights of Golan and which prevented this country being overrun by Syria in the north and Egypt in the south. John Loftus was a duty officer who helped train the Israeli officers and saw this himself. The price for Israel was almost 3,000 dead, a diplomatic defeat following a hard won military victory – and the effective loss of its sovereignty.

This was followed by a peace treaty with Egypt that cost Israel the Sinai Peninsula and gave Arabs everywhere hope that they could defeat and eliminate Israel. This was followed by the “Madrid Conference” in 1991, which was the last time a sovereign prime minister of this country acted like one. Prime Minister Shamir accused the Syrian across the table of being a terrorist, and the Syrian accused him of being one in return (Shamir was involved in the assassination of Swedish diplomat Count Bernadotte in Egypt in 1949). That broke up the meeting.

After the Likud was defeated in 1992 and Shamir retired came the “Oslo Accords” – a plan directed at all times by the White House, even though it feigned total surprise at its development – sealed with the infamous handshake between Prime Minister Rabin and Yassir Arafat. Part of the Oslo Accords has been a plan to delegitimize the settlement of Judea and Samaria in the eyes of other Israelis and a quieter plan to kill off the leadership of the towns and villages here. Along with the Oslo Accords came the notion that Israeli weaponry should be essentially the same as American weaponry and local development of most weapons was abandoned. Thus American “aid” became a tool to force Israel to be totally dependent on the United States for arms. Finally, on top of all this, came the Gush Qatif expulsion of Jewish citizens last year, establishing the precedent that the Israeli Army was to be nothing more than a band of Hebrew speaking Cossacks in the employ of the government.

All this was promoted by George Bush the elder, Bill Clinton, and George Bush the younger and their respective Secretaries of State – all of them. Against nearly sixty years of anti-Israel policy, such a turn-around, making Israel an open ally in front of the entire world, including even the Europeans, is hard for me to believe.

Now let us return to today — the person called prime minister here these days, Ehud Olmert, led a war at the behest of the United States to weaken or to destroy HizbAllah. He was elected on a program of further weakening this country by robbing it of any strategic depth by pulling out of Judea and Samaria altogether. But what little credibility he might have had as the head of a political party of thieves hiding behind what was originally Ariel Sharon’s fat arse to avoid indictment has been blown entirely. With Sharon rotting away in a bed, incompetent fools did all the wrong things in trying to root out an enemy. And now Olmert has had to put his program of ousting Jews from their homes on hold.

If you were an American leader, would you trust this idiot? Would you trust the amateurs who led the IDF to defeat? I wouldn’t, and apparently the Americans don’t. David Wilder recently wrote an article “The Bullet’s in the Chamber” dealing with his views on how Mr. Olmert will soon have to move his belongings out of the premier’s residence. Quoting DEBKAfile’s Hebrew site, he points to an article there where the American government evaluates the Israeli government as, well, lacking in ability. The last sentence of the article allegedly quotes George Bush as having said, “Those Israelis, they're not what we thought.”

So, Israel is definitely not going in on a joint attack of Syria or Iran. Not under Olmert and his crew of jokers – if something happened to Olmert and Peres became prime minister, maybe. Even then, I doubt it.

The original DEBKAfile article quoted here goes on at length about the French naval carrier Charles DeGaulle, and how it is equipped to hold an entire army for months on end. Would the French invade Iran? That seems hardly likely. But the ship is not off Lebanon’s waters for a vacation cruise. A Frenchman doesn’t need to go to Lebanon for a Mediterranean vacation. Besides, August, the traditional month for French vacations, is over.

So, what is going on?

In an article published at this on-line magazine last year, I made five predictions. It’s now nine months into the year 2006, and ten months since I made my predictions. Let’s take a look at them again. Well, let’s look at the first four anyway.

In making the first three of them, I was following the ideas of the two leading m'kubalim in the country, a point I referred to in the article.

1. If the elections are held, Sharon will wind up as prime minister. Here, I'm only following the words of the two m'kubalim.
2. Whether elections are held or not, Sharon will remain prime minister. Again, I'm only following the words of the two m'kubalim. I don't take elections for granted. Too many things can happen to upset the "natural" order of events.
3. Sharon will leave office, for some reason or another, during 2006.
4. During the next year, we will see the rising visibility of American and European soldiers in this country. This only follows the trend of events here. There are five American bases, and an increasing number of EU soldiers here.

I missed the first prediction. Sharon’s stroke made it impossible that he would wind up as prime minister. But the second one was closer. Until Olmert was actually sworn in and took the oath of office, he was temporary acting prime minister, and Sharon remained prime minister. Sharon left office in 2006.

Now we come to the interesting prediction of the four, as this had no m’kubal to back up my words. This was mine, and mine alone.

And this is what I think we are seeing in this force off the shores of Lebanon. Olmert can’t effectively carry out the program he was elected on. At some point soon, he will get the brilliant idea (as someone feeds him the lines) that an international force in Judea and Samaria is just what the doctor ordered…

“Vayómer Hashem elái, mehatzafón tiftáH har’á ál kol yoshvéi ha'áretz.” And the L-rd said to me, "from the north will burst forth the evil upon all the inhabitants of the land."

    JOM,

Thank you for opening the comments with such intelligent remarks. It’s always a pleasure to know I’m conversing with a genius…

  • JustOneMan

Ruvy your mistaken not m’kubalim but ….”Boom Shakalaka” translation-arrogant Christian Hater who thinks he can predict the future…or was it “Kibble and Bits, Kibble and Bits”

  • Ruvy in Jerusalem

    Alright JOM,

Try reading the meat of the article and stop worrying about m’kubalim. We’ll try it one more time for the bright students in the class, like you. But before you start reading, JOM, make sure to eat your kibbles so your mind is refreshed.

1.—There is a massive naval buildup of foreign forces off the shores of Lebanon.
2.—There is no logical reason for this massive naval buildup. Equipping the milquetoast (sp?) force of UNIFIL does not require this much equipage at all.
3.—Debkafiles, composed of former Mossad types, thinks this is the prelude for an attack on Iran, possibly Syria, in which Israel will take part, fighting side by side with the United States.

They say they are insiders, providing an “inside” view of events in the region. What you see above is an “executive summary” of their analysis. But don’t be as lazy student – read their article from the live link in mine.

I disagree with them. Here is why.

1.—The Mossad types in Debkafiles are analysing what they see and are seeing what they fervently wish were true,
2.—The American state department always opposed the creation of a Jewish state and always has followed a policy of undermining its existence behind the scenes so all those Jewish voters in America would not get hopping mad.
3.—It is highly unlikely after nearly 60 years of steadily pursuing the destruction of the State of Israel (that is what ameliorating the strategic error of creating a Jewish state in the Middle East means), that the American state department, and government elites will execute a 180 degree turn-around in policy.
4.—This force IMO is insufficient for a regime change or destruction of nuclear facilities in Iran, or even regime change in Syria, unless the foreign forces have a puppet government already waiting to take over in Damascus.
5.—The qvisling regime in power in Israel was “elected” with the mandate to end Israel’s strategic depth by withdrawing from Judea and Samaria. But it failed in suppressing the Iranian proxy force of HizbAllah in Lebanon. Was this failure a set-up by the United States? Good question.
5a.—The faulty execution of this assignment and the casualties inflcted on Israel by HizbAllah has made the population wary of any further withdrawals from Jewish territory in Eretz Yisrael.

    Conclusions

1.—Therefore the qvisling regime in Jerusalem cannot be trusted to execute the destruction of Jewish villages and towns in Judea and Samaria, and expulsion of her inhabitants.
1a.—An international force will be required to force this upon the State of Israel, initially acting upon the invitation of the qvisling regime.
2.—Therefore, this is the staging of a force that will be prepared to force upon Israel withdrawal from Judea and Samaria and possibly the Heights of Golan upon the invitation of the qvisling regime in power.
3.—If this indeed occurs, it is likely that after this is accomplished, the regime in Israel will be dispatched, and some other kind of governing arrangement will be created for “Palestine.”

If your mind snaps shut in denial of what I’ve written above, that would not surprise me. But it is elementary deduction. For a little guidance in elementary deduction, try reading the first chapters of the Conan Doyle novels, “A Study in Scarlet”, and “Sign of the Four.”

I have come to the conclusion that JOM is actually a pre-teenager, his comments are always so consistently juvenile & idiotic, and his ‘humor’ and frames of reference equally squalid, consisting mainly of potty humor, his idea obviously of cutting edge wit.

Editors – I thought posters were required to be at least 12 years of age to post on BG?

  • Ruvy in Jerusalem

    Nancy,

Thanks for the observations on the other commenter. What did you think of Debka’s analysis of the offshore buildup near south Lebanon (you’d have to read their article), and what did you think of how I viewed all this? The simpler report I used in comment #4 may work better but you need to detail in part 2. of my analysis all the facts from the article itself on ACTUAL American foreign policy with respect to Israel.

Just ignore the nasty stuff about kibbles – that was not for you at all. WOOF!!

Mark? Dave? Gonzo? EB? The same question goes your way as well.

  • MAOZ

The funny thing about this is that the assorted high mucky-mucks may think they’re running this grand strategy to “ameliorate the strategic error”. They might not have the slightest suspicion that HaShem has hooked ‘em and is hauling them in.

    for duane….
awesome Parody … as always (on a side note to a previous Question from you.. i’m not certani if i’m sticking around, Futility and her childe, Despair weigh upon me heavily at the Venture… the KNight of Mirrors strikes deep)

    for Ruvy…

well now Ruvy, i’ve read over what you Asked, and it appears i disAgree with many of your basic Postulates contingent on a vastly different Interpertation of the Facts at hand, as well as not accepting the premise of many Axioms you hold as Truth…

i’ll give one Example and leave it, and the Conversation, at that…

    Ruvy sez…
*2.—The American state department always opposed the creation of a Jewish state and always has followed a policy of undermining its existence behind the scenes so all those Jewish voters in America would not get hopping mad.
3.—It is highly unlikely after nearly 60 years of steadily pursuing the destruction of the State of Israel (that is what ameliorating the strategic error of creating a Jewish state in the Middle East means), that the American state department, and government elites will execute a 180 degree turn-around in policy.*

in all my time within or close to certain Communities involved with Intelligence.. the Postulate of the US wanting the state of Israel gone is not something i had ever heard spoken of, much less wargamed out

quite the Contrary, there are entire departments of Analysts who do nothing but work out possible scenarios for the defense of Israel…. both Overt and Covert… so many of your baseline Assumptions are not borne out by my own Experience or thinking, and thus i cannot Comment on them properly

    Ruvy sez…
*4.—This force IMO is insufficient for a regime change or destruction of nuclear facilities in Iran, or even regime change in Syria, unless the foreign forces have a puppet government already waiting to take over in Damascus.*

this one i tend to Agree with, but not for the Reasons you do… this appears to be a Classic excercise (right out of the warcollege) set up for backing a Peacekeeping Force on an international Operation which woudl serve multiple purposes
    1) blockade and control of air/sea lanes
    2) logistic and tactical support for a ground force.. not for attack, but for occupation

conclusion: it appears to be just what it should be, support and tactical back up for a force to go into southern Lebanon in order to stabilize the area and ensure that no further hostilities emanate from the region, with the secondary mission of oversight when it comes to reconstruction of the area;s devastation form the last military conflict

could just be wishful thinking, but i can say pretty safely that there is NO way that such a mixxed force of NATO troops would be doing anything like occupying Israel, and to try and assert such flies in the face of both political and military Logic at this time and under current circumstances…

and thus ALL of your “Conclusions” are rendered moot due to the simple fact of misinterpertation of the data at hand… which i would tink are colored and influenced by your own prediliction to worst case messianic worldview

your Postulate simply does nto survive the acid Test of simple military Logic, much less the more complex neccessities required on the political stage to get the French, German and US forces to nto only work together on such a task as occupying Israel, but it is patently ludicrous to think that those 3 governments could ever possibly Agree on the sheer stupidity of what you are suggesting… even if the Israeli government asked it.. which there is no Evidence of…

final nail in the hypothesis: who the fuck would Pay for it all? do you honestly think the Germans of the French would undertake such without compensation? and the US just doesn’t have the ground troops available for what woudl be needed

on the other hand, air/sea support as i’ve suggested is EXACTLY what those forces are configured for, and they are quite adequate by NATO standards for blockade by the textbooks used in NATO procedures

now, i had wanted to be done typing on Monday, but i just couldn’t not Answer a direct Question… this is probably just a bit of a “time out” for me while i sort out some things in my own Head (see the “Far Beyond Driven” Article for a bit of Insight)

so to all… take Care and be Well

My apologies for butting in, Ruvy.

  • Ruvy in Jerusalem

    Gonzo,

Thank you for stopping by. I’m going to do something as pedestrian as quoting my own aricle to make a point for you.

    Data and Reasoning

“But let’s back up and consider U.S.-Israeli history. George Marshall, Secretary of State in November 1947, told Harry Truman point blank that the creation of a Jewish state in the Middle East was a strategic mistake. He was so adamant on this that when Truman overruled his judgment, he quit his job.

All this was promoted by George Bush the elder, Bill Clinton, and George Bush the younger and their respective Secretaries of State – all of them. Against nearly sixty years of anti-Israel policy, such a turn-around, making Israel an open ally in front of the entire world, including even the Europeans, is hard for me to believe.”

    Conclusions (from comment #4)

“2.—The American state department always opposed the creation of a Jewish state and always has followed a policy of undermining its existence behind the scenes so all those Jewish voters in America would not get hopping mad.

3.—It is highly unlikely after nearly 60 years of steadily pursuing the destruction of the State of Israel (that is what ameliorating the strategic error of creating a Jewish state in the Middle East means), that the American state department, and government elites will execute a 180 degree turn-around in policy.”

None of this states that folks at the defense department have not worked on overt and covert means to defend Israel. I’m sure they have. Not everybody in your government has the perspective of the state department. And one of the big points I want to get across is that Israel is seen by many Americans as a “little brother” of America. Killing off your little brother (unless he is royal pain in the behind) is not good policy. More important, being seen to kill of your little brother is really bad policy. But that is the precise policy of the state department. So it is a policy that has to be done behind closed doors.

I could just export you my inbox on OE if you wanted to see all the reasons that I’m so convinced of this. Too many things happen that tie in with what I say.

Now, please don’t get the idea that I enjoy writing this, or like the idea that in the end, the US is Israel’s second biggest enemy (the biggest is the refusal of too many Jews to believe in the Reason they are here and have Faith in the One that brought them here, and therefore worshipping a foreign power as though it were a god). Remember where I was born and raised. Saying this hurts me. But that doesn’t change the record of history.

  • Ruvy in Jerusalem

The following came to me in my inbox on 4 September from Aryeh Gallin of Root & Branch, who picks up on these things faster than I. He quotes
the exact same Debkafile article I do
    and says:

“O.K., boys and girls, here is what is coming, and in short order — A) Olmert will be ‘replaced’ by Peres. If Olmert is smart (which he is not) he will resign now [“now” in Israel could take a couple of weeks-RiJ]. Otherwise, he and his crew will be ‘resigned’ ala Sharon and Rabin. B) Once Peres is in power, Sharon’s death (he is already dead) will be announced. The birds of prey (world ‘leaders’) will descend like a cloud on Jerusalem to boo hoo at Sharon’s funeral (and to plot their funeral for the State of Israel as we know it (good riddance to bad garbage). An ‘incident’ will be created on the Temple Mount. ‘Someone’ will attempt to blow up/burn down the Dome of the Rock (or something like that). The pre-planned Third (and final) Intifada will explode. The ‘legitimate’ ‘legal’ Israeli ‘government’ will invite foreign ‘peacekeeping’ troops to Jerusalem (see Daniel 11:30-33). The (Prussian) blue helmets will be here. The final Wars of the Gentiles (Gog and Magog) will be on… Want to know what is going on? See Ezekiel 38 and 39. The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, etc., can no longer help — either you, or themselves.”

Aryeh sees things in a similar light to me. The sparking incident he refers to need not be blowing up the Temple Mount. It could be something else.

  • Ruvy in Jerusalem

It appears that Olmert is trying hard to save his butt from the deserved ouster that appears to be coming. He’s tossing valuable aides to the wolves. Chief of Staff Dan Halutz was one third of the trio of stooges who led us to lose in Lebanon. Apparently, General Halutz is being served up like a Shabbat Hallah – all that is needed now is the sharp knife, the salt and the blessing…

    From DEBKAfiles:

DEBKAfile Exclusive: The breach between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz is final and irreconcilable
    September 7, 2006, 6:11 PM (GMT+02:00)

    According to the article,

“In Olmert’s opinion, the chief of staff dealt too slowly with the shortcomings displayed by the IDF’s Northern Command, its chief Maj.-Gen Udi Adam and the division commanders, instead of addressing them on the spot.

The main problem today, Olmert tells his close aides, is that Defense Minister Amir Peretz is standing in the way of Halutz’s dismissal knowing his own head would be next on the chopping block. This is clearly an invitation to the chief of staff to tender his resignation.”

So Olmert will toss out his COS, then his security (defense) minister, and then he himself will be shown the door, whether he likes it or not. Note Mr. Gallin’s comments in comment #13.

    ok…just for you Ruvy…

it si this baseline Assumption, which is required by the tenets of your Faith, that skews ALL incoming data towards what you Believe rather than what the actual factual data means in Reality of the objective sort

so when you try and state as a “fact” things like…
*The United States’ State Department always maintained this view, and its program has been to weaken Israel over the years in order to ameliorate the error, using various stratagems to accomplish the task. *

which are central to your hypothesis, without solid evidence to prove the axiom, the rest of your attempt at Logic collapses under the weight of supposition and Belief rather than Fact

yes, there have been ome INdividuals within the US government who looked at the formation of Israel as a strategic problem… but i am Aware of NO evidence suggesting that anything other than Israel’s defense has been Policy

now, my personal Knowledge of such things is dated from 1980 onward, so previous to that i have only anecdotal data from trusted Individuals inside the Community

it is NOT that i don’t think Israel is in a difficult position currently, it IS that i think you are misinterperting data based on your Faith

and i will leave it at that, because nothing i can type will convince you of anything… and i am weary of Futility

    Gonzo,

I’m sorry. My baseline beliefs do not filter what a good ruddy Irish Catholic (John Loftus) wrote about your government. Nor do they filter what secular Jews who do not outwardly practice the faith at all (Barry Chamish) have consistently written about your state department.

Your state department is institutionally biased in favor of Arab regimes because there are a lot more postings in Arab countries than there are in Jewish countries. If there were twenty Jewish countries, the situation might be different, but as it stands there is only one; the state deparment employee who champions Israel ain’t going anywhere fast, and is wise to find a position in a think tank, a university, or a different branch of your government.

That’s reality – not some messianic fantasy.

What I’ve submitted in this article is factual data backed up by verifiable sources – personal interviews by journalists, or data painstakingly backed up by historical researchers. Your knowledge is valid, of course, but it is anecdotal.

For the last three administrations at least, the view taken by your state department for fifty eight years has been the one dominant in the United States government.

Now let’s look at some news to verify my assertions.

America pressuring Israel to free senior terrorist; State department, NSA demanding release of militant responsible for
    scores of deaths

TEL AVIV – The United States is currently pressuring the Jewish state to release a senior terrorist nabbed today by Israeli forces in the
    West Bank, WorldNetDaily has learned.

Mahmoud Damra, commander of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Force 17 personal security detail, was detained earlier at a checkpoint near Ramallah.

Abbas appointed Damra as Force 17 commander in June even though Damra is on Israel’s most wanted list of terrorists.

Israeli security officials say that since September 2000, Damra has led a cell of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group based in
Ramallah that has carried out scores of deadly attacks, including shootings at Israeli vehicles, attacks against Jewish communities in
the West Bank and the planting of roadside bombs.

Many Force 17 members are also stated members of the Al Aqsa Brigades.

Damra has in the past publicly boasted of attacks against Israelis. He sought shelter in then-PLO leader Yasser Arafat’s compound in
Ramallah in 2002 after Israel accused him of masterminding a string of terrorist operations.

A Palestinian security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Damra was personally involved in the murder of eight Israelis and in attacks that injured 20 more.

“It is not just Israeli propaganda. Damra was absolutely involved in the attacks,” said the Palestinian official.

Following Damra’s arrest today, Abbas called senior American and British officials to request that they demand the release of Damra,
    diplomatic officials tell WND.

Abbas told the American officials the release of Damra was important for his personal security, the diplomatic officials said.

Saeb Erekat, chief Palestinian negotiator, confirmed to WND American officials have agreed to petition Israel to free Damra. He declined
to name the Americans involved in mediation efforts.

Diplomatic sources involved in the talks told WND that David Welch, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and Elliot
Abrams, the National Security Agency’s Middle East Director, have sent requests to Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz’s office asking
    for Damra’s release.

The sources said Richard Jones, the American Ambassador to Israel, has been directed to express reservations about Damra’s arrest to
Peretz and Israeli Foreign Minister Tzippy Livni.

A Palestinian official involved in the talks expressed hope Damra would be released “within days.”

U.S. weapons transfer goes to Palestinian terrorists If Damra is freed it would not be the first time the U.S. may have
indirectly aided the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades while attempting to
    boost Abbas’ security.

    In June, WND broke the
story, assault rifles that were part of an American shipment of weapons transferred by the U.S. to Force 17 reportedly made its way to the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. The weapons may have been used in a string of shootings, including an ambush on a busload of Israeli school girls here, according to Al Aqsa members.

Abbas in May reportedly requested weapons from the U.S. in talks that involved Israel, Jordan and Egypt, stating rifles and ammunition were
needed to arm Force 17 for possible clashes with Hamas.

The weapons were transported into Israel from the Jordanian border and delivered to Force 17 by a convoy protected by the Israeli
Defense Forces. The cache was driven to Ramallah and to the Gaza Strip border. In Ramallah, the weapons were trucked to Arafat’s old compound, which is currently used by both Force 17 and members of the Al Aqsa Brigades, Palestinian officials involved in the transfer told
    WND.

The weapons cache reportedly included 3,000 American-made M-16 assault rifles and over 1 million rounds of ammunition.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced on June 13 he had approved the shipment of weapons and ammunition, explaining the transfer was meant for Abbas’ personal protection.

“I did this because we are running out of time and we need to help Abu Mazen,” Olmert told reporters.

But immediately following the transfer, Force 17 senior officer Abu Yousuf told WND in an exclusive interview the weapons will be shared
with the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and utilized for attacks against Jews.

Abu Yousuf, also a member of the Al Aqsa Brigades, hinted the weapons already were used in shooting attacks in June that killed one Israeli civilian and wounded another.

Yousuf told WND the U.S. and Israel facilitated the transfer of weapons to his Force 17 unit “for its own political purposes. We are
not concerned with the reasons. The weapons will not be used against our brothers, only [against] Israelis.”

Abu Yousuf previously participated in anti-Israel terrorism, including recent shootings, attacks in May against Israeli forces
operating in Ramallah and a shooting attack in northern Samaria in December 2000 that killed Benyamin Kahane, leader of the ultranationalist
(what is “ULTRAnationalist”??? You are either nationalist or not) Kahane Chai organization.

After the Kahane murder, Yousuf, like Damra, was extended refuge by Arafat to live in the late PLO leader’s Ramallah compound. Yousuf still lives in the compound.

Sources close to the Al Aqsa Brigades told WND the American assault rifles were used in three separate anti-Israel shooting attacks in
June. One attack killed a 35-year-old Israeli Arab on a major West Bank highway on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Israeli security
officials say the shooters likely mistook the victim for a Jew. The second attack, which occurred June 13 on the same highway, lightly
    wounded an Israeli.

In the third attack, the Al Aqsa Brigades on June 19 ambushed a bus carrying Israeli school girls. The bus was armored. The school girls
    escaped unharmed.

*Diplomatic sources involved in the talks told WND ….*

who are those *diplomatic sources*, and how can you be so certain that they even exist, much less have provided good information?

this is worse than anecdotal, it is pure hearsay without ANY secondary source for confirmation, much less a representation of official Policy

over and over again, you cite *news sources* , who make claims, but provide nothing but unidentified *sources* for said claims…

this does NOT render them invalid , per se…

but without documented corroboration, especially in the realms of this discusion, it remains merely unfounded assertations from sources with questionable motives and veracity

either way.. time will tell, and it does not change my Hope that you and yours(and all of Israel for that matter), come through this all safe, free and better than when it started…

Looks like the resident genius and “scholar in absence,” JOM, has come back for a return visit…

It is always nice to know that geniuses like him deign to comment…

In comment #12, I mentioned to Gonzo that I could just export the content of my OE inbox to make my points for me…

    Let’s give some examples…

    1. Press Release For further details: Yoram Dori (Israel Foreign Ministry)

Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres met with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Blair’s opening remarks were to say that he was perfectly aware of the fact that it was impossible to move forward with the political/diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinians without the release of the kidnapped soldier.

Peres said that he did not believe there would be another war in the near future, yet the situation could deteriorate, and time was not on the side of the parties.

It was therefore necessary to operate on two parallel tracks, and quickly: one, the economic cooperation track between Israel, Jordan and the Palestinians (Economic Peace Corridor), and the other, the political/diplomatic track on which Olmert and Abu Mazen will embark when they meet to discuss the implementation of the road map and after the release of Gilad Shalit. The discussion might also include the re-deployment of the IDF in north Samaria.

    Comment:

In spite of Nasrallah’s ‘missile therapy” the traitors (Peres is not an idiot) in the government still talk about ending Israel’s strategic depth for self protection – this as Iran rearms the HizbAllah in the north.

    2. WINSTON MID EAST ANALYSIS & COMMENTARY (10 Sept.)
OLMERT OPENS THE GATES – AGAIN by Emanuel A. Winston, Middle East Analyst & Commentator

Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert not only lifted Israel’s sea blockade against cargo ships carrying arms from Iran to Hezb’Allah but, also ordered the Israeli Air Force to cease firing on truck convoys from Syria to Lebanon known to be carrying fresh supplies of missiles to Hezb’Allah.

“The Hizbollah Bombardment Opened Eyes of Terror Groups” article in U.S. Defense News by Uzi Rubin fully iterates how the stature of the bombardment rocket and its multiple launcher capability to that of superpower-busters. Quoting Rubin: “What the Gulf War of 1991 did to the obsolete SCUDs and its home-made clones, the August fighting in northern Israel and southern Lebanon did to the obsolete Katyushas and their siblings from the factories of Syria and Iran. They are now etched in the minds of every terrorist and any radical wannabe as a weapon of decision – weapons that can humble technologically superior Western military forces…In the hands of the terrorist, the humble rocket aimed at civilians assumes a strategic role….During the month long hostilities, more than 4,000 Syrian-made rockets slammed into Israel – a veritable blitz…Despite their notorious inaccuracy, more than 1,000 rounds landed within built-up areas…killing 53 Israelis, while thousands more were maimed and wounded….One million Israelis lived in or near shelters, with a further 250,000 migrating to safety in the south of Israel….The emergence of the rocket as a strategic threat in the hands of rogue states and terror organizations is a challenge to the U.S., Israel and the entire West….We have the technologies and we have the resources. What we now need is to have the will.” (1)

Olmert once could have taken shelter behind the claim of stupidity or even lack of knowledge of warfare because he never served actively in the military but rather in the Public Relations. Neither did his Defense Minister Amir Peretz, who serviced tanks for his military service. But, Olmert and Peretz have long surpassed excuses of bad judgement, stupidity and the inability to make decisions during extreme conflict. Now Olmert moves well past the known record of England’s Neville Chamberlain or the Norwegian Vidkun Quisling.

I think many are comparing what has been happening in Israel’s political system to the infamous doctrine of Vidkun Quisling known to some as Norway’s Benedict Arnold. The following describes Quisling’s betrayal of the nation, masquerading as a political party under the National Union, a Fascist Party who received financial subsidies from Germany. (Does this sound familiar?) As in all the other occupied countries, the Nazi power profited from the support of local sympathizers. During a visit to Hitler in Berlin the winter of 1939-40, the leader of the national socialist Nasjonal Samling Party, Quisling, had pointed out how valuable it would be for Germany to occupy Norway. Immediately after the Nazi invasion, on the morning of April 9, 1940 , he proclaimed himself the new head of the government and ordered the Norwegian armed forces to stop battling the Germans. But Quisling’s intervention backfired and stimulated the resistance. Thus, the occupying power quickly realized that – for the time being – Quisling did not serve their interests and they chose to base their administration of the country on a certain degree of give-and-take with the existing civilian authorities. The Germans installed Quisling as prime minister in 1942 and throughout the war he collaborated with the Nazis. Quisling was tried and executed after the war. (2)

Olmert is a clear and present danger to the nation and, if the nation is to survive all laws that protect such leaders against prosecution should be put aside under the desperate need of martial law. Laws are meant to arrange certain civilized behavior so cars and then drivers know that one stops when the light turns red and go on green. Laws recognize the weakness of men who need sensible guidelines because they are not able themselves to act sensibly to certain events and circumstances.

But, there are times when the law is either irrelevant due to the type of ruler who has taken power or where that ruler uses the law for his own purposes against populace. Hitler and his gang were master at this – using the courts as a legitimate conduit to take away the rights of the people and, of course, make Genocide legal within the law.

Israel has been spiraling down for a long time as the political parties and stronger unethical leaders emerged as they discovered they could get away with the antics of tyrants. Some were better at using the cover of calling themselves a ‘democracy’ when they were in most ways autocracies or dictatorships.

As a relevant aside, we watched Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Aharon Barak play the role of legal dictator. He is now to be replaced as Supreme Court Justice by Dorit Beinish. This Judge has, like Barak, has been known for her judicial decisions to favor political bias and (what is called) an “activist ” Supreme Court leaning far to the Left. The Israeli Supreme Court has been recognized by their peers internationally as an “Activist Court” – meaning, instead of ruling objectively based upon the law, they rule as if they are a “Leftist Political Party”.

Israel is in deep trouble and desperately needs a return to its earliest ‘raison d’etre’ (reason for being). This can only be accomplished by a ruthless house cleaning and replacement of government officials with integrity, a belief in their right to live on Land that is theirs and the patriotism that once was an unquestioned component inherent in elected rulers.

    3. These are excerpts from an e-mail from Steve Shamrak, who does a daily roundup of news from the neighborhood… This was received in my inbox today, 11 September.

    a. In a recently aired video, Al Qaida’s second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri introduced a speaker, Azzam the American, who invited all non-Muslims, especially in the United States, to convert to Islam and to abandon their ‘misguided’ ways or suffer the consequences. He called for “…repent and enter into the light of Islam and turn their swords against the enemies of God…”
    …..
The Al Qaida speaker has been identified as Adam Yehiye Gadahn, an American from California with Jewish ancestry. He was born Adam Pearlman on September 1, 1978 , the grandson of a prominent Jewish surgeon and the son of musician Phil Pearlman, who converted to Christianity and changed his named to Gadahn. This is only one example of how the Jewish self-hate, apathy, lack of leadership and absence of direction can manifest itself.

    b. Iran resumed weapons airlift. Iran ‘s first post-blockade arms flight departed Dubai Friday, Sept. 8, to test the ground at Beirut international airport for Israeli air force or UN reactions.

    c. Three European nations – Britain , Germany and Italy – have informed Israel’s national airline that El Al flights that carry heavy munitions cargo to Israel will no longer be allowed to stop for refuelling at their airports. The new rules severely restrict arms deliveries to Israel from the U.S.

    d. Olmert is Warned by Israel’s Security Chiefs. Neither the Egyptian police contingents nor the European border inspectors have honored agreements signed last year. They have not caught a single terrorist nor stopped a single weapons delivery smuggled in from Sinai to Gaza. Intelligence leaders are warning that the same pattern is asking shape in south Lebanon.

    e. Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz to step down. A large group of IDF reserve generals will ask Lt. Gen Dan Halutz to step down as chief of staff. Among the group are Uri Sagi, former AMAN chief, Doron Almog, former OC Southern Command, Haim Erez, former commander of the brigade which crossed the Suez Canal in the Yom Kippur War…

    f. Shebaa Farms Handover? The Israeli prime minister was quoted by Haaretz newspaper as telling Sergey Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, that Israel could relinquish the tiny border area if the Lebanese enforce all of the cease-fire agreement.

    Comment:

I have left out Steve Shamrak’s comments to these news items. But see my own comment #14 above…

Also, an interesting pair of signs graced the intersection I was guarding last night in Jerusalem. One said, “Take respoonsibility! (Quit and) Go Home!” Signed – the Reservists The other said, “A military investigation is required! Signed – the Reservists.

On Saturday night, 40,000 reservists went to an imprmptu demonstration in Tel Aviv demanding the same thing.

Reservists make up the backbone of the army here, and if they are dissatisfied – and they are royally pissed off – changes will be made. Those changes can be peaceful – or they can be violent.

  • Ruvy in Jerusalem

This article was also sent out on the Root & Branch Information Service. I got the following comment from a fellow named Yonatan.

“The problem is always that nobody knows when any of this will actually happen. You know as well as I do that many many times people have thought that the end of days was happening. But it didn’t.”

This is very true. Yonatan is very right, and many a Jew has deceived himself that the Redemption had arrived. I answered the gentleman thusly:

While we do not have knowledge of the future, we have some guidance from our holy books. There is a medresh (half moral tale – half prophecy in the Talmud) stating that the Galilee will be destroyed. While we have not seen this yet, the 4,000 rockets shot our way from “Uncle Nasrallah” – a little gift for Tish’a B’Av – is a good start. The rocket bombardment did shut the north down for a while, and one is forced to the conclusion that “shlav bet” (stage 2) of the process is soon to come. These boys to are north are being rearmed as we argue. In short, you are seeing the medresh coming true before your eyes. These things are not always obvious. Sometimes, you have to look a bit. A single sentence in a medresh may not be prophecy, but if it is, it may not take just minute or a week to occur, but several years…

Is it such a long distance from Tur to Metulla? Or from Metulla to Jenin? This isn’t a big place, and if you knocked out the border controls and wars, you could drive to Beirut over two days, with a stop either at Akko or Tur for a meal or bed and b-fast along the way. It’s like going from St. Paul MN to Thunder Bay ON! In fact, it is much shorter.

So, what is wrong with speculating that a wimp like Olmert – or a vulture like Peres – will invite such a force to help him “pacify” us crazy people who actually believe in G-d?
