Fresh Air

A personal website doesn’t get much less pretentious or more charming than this one:

    why Northwest Notes?
Because I love almost everything about the Pacific Northwest.

I’m a longtime writer and a novice photographer, and I’ve been keeping a journal since 1975. I started the online journal as an incentive to do more writing, learn to maintain a website, and share some photography. The website makes it easier for me to imagine an audience for my work. I like to write about urban walks and bike rides, gardening, birdwatching, and road trips. In my handwritten journals, on the other hand, I fell into the habit of writing mostly about my feelings, frustrations, and sources of stress. Writing for an imagined audience is a lot more fun.

This is as near an angst-free zone as you are likely to find on the bloggy highway – the pictures are nice too. I shall return to be refreshed.

The French ensemble played a muscular concert of Piano Trios by Schumann and Ravel, along with Liszt's weird and wily "Tristia – La Vallée d'Obermann" and an invigorating encore by Lili Boulanger.
