FOX has decided to continue their raiding of ABC’s reality shows for ideas. After doing their own versions of Supernanny (Nanny 911), Wife Swap (Trading Spouses), and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Renovate My Family), the network now sees fit to put their own spin on Dancing With The Stars. This time, instead of having remotely famous people pair up professional dancers for ballroom dancing, they are pairing up with well-known figure skaters in the upcoming six-episode series Skating With Celebrities.

Here is the list of celebrity/skater pairs:

-Dave Coulier (Full House) & Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan

-Olympic decathlon gold medalist Bruce Jenner & world champion pairs figure skater Tai Babilonia

-Todd Bridges (Diff’rent Strokes) & three-time U.S. national pairs figure skating champion and world championship medalist Jenni Meno

-Kristy Swanson (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) & two-time Olympic pairs figure skating medalist and world champion Lloyd Eisler

-Deborah Gibson & four-time world figure skating champion Kurt Browning

-Jillian Barberie (FOX NFL Sunday) & three-time U.S. pairs figure skating champion and world championship medalist John Zimmerman

Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton will host the show and Olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill is confirmed as one of the judges. Unlike Dancing With The Stars, the pairs will have the help of professional skate choreographers in coming up with their routines.

There is no word yet on when this will air and it is also not known if viewers will be able to vote for their favorites. Dancing With The Stars managed to make daytime drama actress Kelly Monaco a household name. Could this be the beginning of Dave Coulier’s triumphant Hollywood comeback?

About Sterfish

  • I don’t know if I have words for this. Dancing with the Stars did really well for ABC, but the end winning result caused such an uproar. Will FOX also follow suit and allow the one FOX personality steal the show in the end?

  • Another insta-classic from the network that brought us such great steps forward for humanity like The Swan.

I went to the taping of the final episode on friday Oct 14th. I can see how it may be somewhat exciting to see live but lets just say that it’s not all what you see on TV.. Reality TV is not REALITY TV. I will say that I feel it ended as a major upset, for me as well as some others.

  • I might’ve watched this if they had booked Tanya Harding as one of the celebrities.

Would have made the finals SOOO much more interesting!
